Listen or read online Akathist to Spyridon of Trimythous 40 days in Russian. In what cases do you read the akathist to Saint Spyridon of Trimifunt for 40 days and how to do it correctly? More details about everything in this article.

Many believers are embarrassed to ask the saints for material benefits, believing that this is not entirely correct. In fact, every person can face a difficult life situation related to lack of money or problems with housing. Don't despair! The Lord takes care of everyone and will not leave you in trouble; the main thing is to ask him for help with all your heart. You need to purchase an icon of Spyridon of Trimifun from the church and read the akathist in front of it for 40 days in a row. And you can be sure that even the most difficult situation will be miraculously resolved.

Life and miracles of a saint

The holy wonderworker was born on the island of Cyprus into a wealthy family. From an early age he tried to help the suffering. He often lent money to those in need without asking for it to be returned. He tried to feed the hungry, and gave shelter to those who were left without a roof over their heads. The saint was an ordinary farmer, led a righteous life, following the commandments of God, showing everyone the Lord’s love for us.

The miracle worker married a modest girl, who bore him a child. Her death was a real blow for the young man. He sold all his property, distributed the money to the poor and went wandering.

For his devoted service, the Lord rewarded Spiridon with the ability to heal the sick, cast out demons and raise the dead. Despite the fact that Spiridon had no education, he had insight and a subtle mind. For his virtuous life he received the rank of bishop.

There are many known cases when Spiridon showed his amazing abilities. Once he saved many people from starvation. He was unable to buy bread from a greedy merchant who demanded too high a price for his goods. Through the prayer of Spyridon, a downpour descended on the city, which washed away the merchant’s granaries, thanks to which the people were able to get enough bread.

People turned to him for help both during his lifetime and after the saint reposed. The main thing is to have pure thoughts and strong faith in the Lord during prayer.

Important! A saint will never help if a person asks to increase his wealth at the expense of others.

In what cases should you read an akathist to a saint?

The Akathist to Spiridon of Trimifunsky is read in cases where a person cannot pay off debts or loans, or feels a constant lack of money to live on. In Greece, the saint is considered the patron saint of travelers.

As a rule, the akathist is read in the following cases:

  • To strengthen faith. The consequence of weak faith is fear of poverty, problems and illnesses. You must always believe that the Lord, as a loving father, always watches over his children and will definitely help when necessary.
  • For financial problems. During his lifetime, Spiridon lent money to many people. He helped disinterestedly, but demanded repayment, encouraging borrowers to work. When turning to a saint for help, you need to be ready to repay the debt, but not material assets, but through prayer and correction of your life.
  • Wanting to buy, sell or rent out housing. There is much evidence of the miracle worker’s help after reading the akathist specifically in the housing issue.
  • When you need help with agricultural work. During a drought or invasion of harmful insects, an akathist to Spyridon of Trimifun is read. Even during his lifetime, he could command the elements.
  • Looking for a job. A person can have a means of subsistence if he has a job. Nowadays, when it is very difficult to find a good position, this is especially true.

Akathist - as a prayer rule

Akathist is a long prayer that is read while standing. This requires a lot of patience and strength. Even if the saint fulfilled the request, the reading of the akathist is not interrupted ahead of schedule end of the rule.

Akathist to Spyridon of Trimifun - a powerful prayer. Before you start reading it, you should definitely take a blessing from the priest.

When the help of a saint is needed, to the morning and evening prayers add an akathist.

How to read an akathist

They read the akathist to Spyridon of Trimifun for forty days in a row. Not everyone has the patience and strength to follow such a rule. The akathist is read aloud, slowly, in a calm voice.

After each chorus you need to dawn on yourself sign of the cross and make a bow from the waist. This will help revitalize prayer and force the body to work together with the spirit.

The last kontakion of the akathist is read three times, saying “Hallelujah” three times. Prayers placed after the akathist are read on the knees.

How quickly the saint will fulfill your request depends on the strength of your faith. However, it is worth remembering that if you turn to him with pure thoughts, he will definitely hear you. After your request is fulfilled, be sure to order at the temple thanksgiving prayer.

Rejoice, your deceased daughter, may she reveal the treasure entrusted to her, calling to life; Rejoice, sorrowful widow, who gave gold to save her, comforting.
Rejoice, you who raised the dead from the dead; Rejoice, like his mother, who suddenly died of joy, has come to life.
Rejoice, for you have become like Elijah, who restored life to the son of Sarepta’s wife through prayers; Rejoice, for you also imitated Elisha, who aroused the youth from death.
Rejoice, shepherd, who sincerely loves people; Rejoice, harlot wife, who washed your nose with tears, and forgave your sins in the name of God.
Rejoice, you who have acquired the holy zeal of the Supreme Apostle; Rejoice, as an unrepentant sinner, according to your verb, you will die in serious illness.
Rejoice, having obtained fruitfulness from the earth through your prayers; Rejoice, immutable assurance of the resurrection of men.
Rejoice, Spyridone, wonderful miracle worker.

Kontakion 9:
You were illuminated by the Divine Spirit, Saint Spyridon, you had the spirit of wisdom, as you filled the fools with wise words and among the fathers you established the faith, the spirit of reason, as you illuminated the darkened minds; the spirit of the fear of God, because by making you pleasing to God you have purified your soul. Moreover, having presented yourself to the Throne of the Most High, you sing to Him with a host of Angels: Alleluia.

Ikos 9:
Receiving the rod of the shepherd of verbal sheep from the Chief Shepherd of the Lord Jesus, Saint Spyridon did not change his life: non-covetous, meek, enduring everything for the sake of love, not being ashamed to care for the flock of wordless sheep. All this excites us to glorify God and cry out to you:

Rejoice, you who despise the glory of this world as if it were vain; Rejoice, thou who hast gained much in Heaven.
Rejoice, red one of this world, imputed to the minds; Rejoice, vessel of heavenly blessings.
Rejoice, most holy pasture of the Cypriots; Rejoice, for for your sake God is the predator of your sheep with invisible bonds.
Rejoice, having taught fatherly admonition; Rejoice, by your mercy you gave them the night of the ram spent without sleep.
Rejoice, by the disobedience of a goat, as if the mind of a possessor, a merchant who hid his price, denounced; Rejoice, having brought the one who hid your silver coins to repentance.
Rejoice, for with your admonition you healed the passions of greed.
Rejoice, Spyridone, wonderful miracle worker.

Kontakion 10:
Saving the souls of the flock, entrusted to you by God, you, Saint Spyridon, by the will of God, were called to show your glory, especially the glory of the true God, and to other countries, so that everywhere they glorify the name of God, crying out: Alleluia.

Ikos 10:
A quick helper and intercessor in all needs and sorrows, Saint Spyridon, at the command of the Tsar, like other shepherds, came to the city of Antioch, where Tsar Constantine was overcome by illness; Saint I will touch his head and make him healthy. Marveling at this miracle, we cry out to you:

Rejoice, whose angel in a dream vision appeared to the king like a healer; Rejoice, Divine Ones who, for the sake of love, have accepted the difficult path in old age.
Rejoice, the king's servant, who struck you on the cheek, according to the commandment of the Savior, substituted another; Rejoice, pillar of humility.
Rejoice, having granted health to the Tsar through your prayers; Rejoice, for through your humiliation you taught the servant and changed his unmerciful disposition.
Rejoice, for you taught the king piety and mercy; Rejoice, for you hated earthly treasures, you rejected the king’s gold.
Rejoice, for you turned your disciple Trifillia away from addiction to earthly goods and made him a vessel of God’s grace; Rejoice, for I have come to you in Alexandria with the idols of the fallen.
Rejoice, even demons obey him; Rejoice, for you have turned many away from idolatry.
Rejoice, Spyridone, wonderful miracle worker.

Kontakion 11:
There was an angelic singing when you offered Thy evening prayers to St. Spyridon in the temple, and those who served with you were not mad. The inhabitants of the city, having heard the wondrous singing, entered the temple and, seeing no one, sang with the powers of the Mountains: Alleluia.

Ikos 11:
The luminous sun of the world, you were the interlocutor of the Angels on earth, Saint Spyridon; Having betrayed your spirit into the hand of God, you moved into a mountain village, praying for peace before the Throne of the Lord. But we who live on earth cry out to you:

Rejoice, for I am still alive, co-servant of the Angel; Rejoice, hearing the psalmody of the Archangels.
Rejoice, visible image of our transfiguration; Rejoice, for if I lacked oil in the temple, God for your sake fill the lamp with abundance.
Rejoice, lamp of Divine radiance; Rejoice, vessel of God's grace, richly like the oil that fills your soul.
Rejoice, inexhaustible source, ever flowing currents of grace to everyone; Rejoice, the Angels are amazed at him.
Rejoice, you punished the deacon's audition in the temple; Rejoice, you who were vainglorious with your voice and lost your voice and tongue.
Rejoice, for during the heat, dew suddenly descended from above, your sacred head of coolness; Rejoice, in this sign you foresaw the nearness of your repose.
Rejoice, Spyridone, wonderful miracle worker.

Kontakion 12:
The cover and refuge of all the faithful who came to you even in your life, you, O saint, did not leave us orphans even after your dormition; God, conqueror of the order of nature, keep your holy relics incorruptible to strengthen the Orthodox faith and piety, as a sign of immortality, glorifying Him, we cry: Alleluia.

Ikos 12:
We sing praises to you, O saint of God, for you have surprised the world with miracles flowing from your holy relics. All who come with faith and kiss them receive all the good things they ask for. And we, who gave you strength, who crowned you with the crown of incorruption and who through you glorifies God, cry out to you:

Rejoice, you who appeared as a shipbuilder during a famine and ordered food to be delivered; Rejoice, you who have given sight to the blind, who have flown with faith to your holy relics.
Rejoice, you who healed the youth from the incurable illness; Rejoice, you who cast out the demon from your wife and created health.
Rejoice, chosen governor of Kerkyra; Rejoice, for you drove out the hordes of the evil Hagarians and sank their ships into the abyss.
Rejoice, for you saw him surrounded by a host of Angels, holding a sword in his right hand and causing his enemies to tremble; Rejoice, build yourself a temple in which to celebrate the Liturgy on unleavened bread, forbidden by the governor.
Rejoice, having struck down the Latin governor with cruel death; Rejoice, you who burned his image in a house in Venice with lightning.
Rejoice, you who have put to shame the apostasy and false wisdom of the West; Rejoice, having established the one Orthodox faith to be true and saving for people.
Rejoice, Spiridon, wonderful miracle worker!

Kontakion 13:

Saint Spyridon of Trimifuntsky

Saint Spyridon of Trimythous. Fresco. Serbia.

On December 12 (25), the Holy Orthodox Church celebrates the memory of the great saint, revered in all corners of the Christian world - the saint and wonderworker Spyridon, Bishop of Trimythous. In the Russian Church, St. Spyridon is revered on a par with St. Nicholas, the Wonderworker Archbishop of Myra.

According to church historians, Saint Spyridon in 325 took part in the actions of the First Ecumenical Council, which was convened by Emperor Constantine the Great in order to put an end to the dispute with the insane Arius. It was at the Council, among the many bishops, that Saint Nicholas, Bishop Myra of Lycia and Saint Spyridon of Trimythous were present. On it Saint Spyridon entered into competition with a prominent Greek philosopher who defended the Aryan heresy.

The simple speech of Saint Spyridon showed everyone the weakness of human wisdom before the Wisdom of God: “Listen, philosopher, what I will tell you: we believe that Almighty God out of nothing created heaven, earth, man and the entire visible and invisible world with His Word and Spirit. This Word is the Son of God, Who came to earth for our sins, was born of a Virgin, lived with people, suffered, died for our salvation and then rose again, redeeming us with His sufferings. original sin, and resurrected the human race with Himself. We believe that He is Consubstantial and Equal in Honor with the Father, and we believe this without any crafty inventions, for it is impossible to comprehend this mystery with the human mind.”

Having listened to such a fiery and profound speech by the saint, the Greek sage turned with all his heart to Orthodoxy, saying: “Listen! While the competition with me was carried out through evidence, I put up other evidence against some, and with my art of arguing I reflected everything that was presented to me. But when, instead of proof from reason, some special power began to emanate from the mouth of this old man, evidence became powerless against it, since a person cannot resist God. If any of you can think the same way as I do, then let him believe in Christ and, together with me, follow this old man, through whose mouth God Himself spoke.”

Miracle of Saint Spyridon of Trimifuntsky

At the same Ecumenical Council, Saint Spyridon, to admonish opponents of true worship of God, showed a miracle, which forever entered the chronicle of the history of the Christian Church. To prove the unity of the Holy Trinity, during a dispute with the Arians, the saint took a brick in his hands and squeezed it: instantly fire came out of it, water flowed down, and the clay remained in the hands of the miracle worker.

“These are three elements, but the plinth (brick) is one,” said St. Spyridon then, “so in Holy Trinity“Three Persons, but the Divinity is One.” It is no coincidence that it was at the First Ecumenical Council that the seven-point Creed was compiled, which later became known as the Nicene Creed.

Saint Spyridon was born at the end of the 3rd century on the island of Cyprus in the village of Askia (Assia) (Greek Άσσια) / Pashaköy (Turkish Paşaköy) - a village on the island of Cyprus. By occupation, the future saint was a shepherd and from childhood he was accustomed to work. According to Saint Demetrius of Rostov, “he led a pure and godly life. Imitating David in meekness, Jacob in simplicity of heart, and Abraham in love for strangers.”

In adulthood, the saint married and became the father of a family. However family life was brief: a few years after the marriage, Spiridon’s wife died. Her death served as an impetus for changing the life path of the future saint. Spyridon did not complain against God. He did not ask why such a punishment was sent to him, who had done nothing to anger the Lord. He accepted his widowhood with submission and humility, seeing in it a sign - a sign by which the Lord was calling him to change his life. Saint Spyridon decided to devote his life to serving God and his neighbors. During the reign of Constantine the Great (324–337) and his son Constantius (337–361), Saint Spyridon was elected bishop of the Cypriot city of Trimifunt. As a bishop, Saint Spyridon showed his flock an example of a virtuous life and hard work: she tended sheep, harvested bread, and worked like an ordinary layman. The saint's humility, his diligence and trust in God's Providence allowed the saint to acquire special spiritual gifts, which began to manifest themselves in healings from physical and mental ailments, in the miraculous deliverance of those suffering from the grave adversities of life.
The life of Saint Spyridon is replete with many miracles that were performed through the prayers of the saint, both during his earthly life and after his departure to another world. Our contemporaries, many of whom belong to the Russian Orthodox Church, also talk about the miraculous help of the miracle worker. Let us present only a few of the most striking testimonies of the miraculous help of the saint, taken from his life, in different time compiled by Saint Demetrius of Rostov, A.V. Bugaevsky, Theodore, Bishop of Paphos, etc. From reliable sources, Christians know that through the prayers of St. Spyridon, abundant rain fell from the sky in places of terrible and destructive drought, the dead were resurrected, the poor received much-needed material assistance, and the unrighteous rich were miraculously brought to their senses through the loss of property and money.
It is known that one day a woman came to the saint and brought the corpse of her infant daughter, who had drowned a few days ago. The child’s body turned blue and, even knowing about the power and miracles of Spiridon, no one believed that the girl could be resurrected. Seeing the mother’s uncontrollable grief, the saint brought the child back to life. In a matter of moments, the blue disappeared from the body, the girl opened her eyes and spoke. The mother, who still did not fully believe in the miracle, but went to ask Spiridon for help out of despair, could not stand it, and died of shock. Then Spiridon immediately resurrected her too. All this happened in front of many witnesses, and was recorded in the chronicles of the island of Cyprus. The Church, having studied the circumstances of the case in detail, officially recognized what happened as a miracle.
The Church honors Spiridon not only as a miracle worker, but also as a person famous for his extraordinary wisdom. One day, a peasant came to him and, complaining about the crop failure, asked for some grain for sowing. Spiridon invited him to go into the barn and take the necessary measure himself. “Won’t you come with me and see how much I take from you, so that you can then know how much to demand back from me?” - asked the peasant. “I just know that you will take as much as you need, and give as much as you can,” Spiridon calmly answered. The petitioner was very surprised by the saint's answer, but when he entered the barn, he simply physically could not take more than was really required - the excess grain spilled out of his hands.

When a terrible drought occurred on the island of Cyprus, many peasants went to ask for bread from the rich, who raised grain prices prohibitively high. Some of the most desperate poor people turned to the saint for help, as last hope in the face of starvation. The wise old man said to one of them: “Don’t worry, child. The rich man, who did not want to save your family from inevitable death today, will tomorrow himself begin to persuade you to take as much grain from him as possible. He will be pitiful and ridiculous in the eyes of people, and your house will be filled with dishes. The Holy Spirit revealed this to me.” The poor man thought that the bishop was saying this in order to console and calm him down. Therefore, the peasant went home sad, not hoping for a quick fulfillment of the prediction. As night fell, at the behest of God, a powerful downpour fell upon the earth. Under the pressure of the elements, the barn of a greedy covetous man, filled to the very top, fell. Scattered by streams of water, fruits and grains lay everywhere. In the morning, the owner of the collapsed granary, along with his servants, ran around Trimifunt and begged passers-by to help him collect bread, barley and beans, but did not find sympathy from anyone. All the city poor rushed to pick up free wheat and fruits from the ground, taken away by providence from a greedy man. Among them was a bankrupt villager. The merchant could not interfere with the suffering crowd, exhausted from hunger, but, seeing yesterday’s visitor, he pretended to be kind and offered him a loan without profit to collect more bread lying on the road. The farmer, laughing at the hypocrisy and shamelessness of the miser punished by God, took quite a lot of grain for free, like the other Trimifuntians. The peasant with all his heart glorified the man-loving Lord and His saint Spiridon, for, without sowing or reaping the harvest, he managed to fill the bins with the blessings prepared for the poor and wretched according to God’s righteous Judgment.

St. Spiridon with his life. Emmanuel Tzanfournaris. 1595 Collection of the Museum of Icons. Venice.

Saint Spyridon, like the Old Testament patriarch Abraham, tried in every possible way to help wanderers, personally serving them and showing them due veneration. One day during Great Lent, which the saint observed with particular strictness, a tired traveler came to his house. The saint asked his daughter to feed the stranger, but there was no food at all in the house. Then the wise shepherd ordered his daughter to cook the pig meat that had been salted in their house. When the daughter prepared the meat, Spiridon invited the wanderer to sit with him at the table. The Bishop had to eat the pork himself, for the rule of hospitality required the delicate host to begin the meal with the traveler. One can imagine how exhausted the wanderer was and how much his weakened body needed food if the zealous guardian of purity decided to violate Lent. However, the guest did not immediately agree to taste the meat. He was afraid to break his fast and called himself a Christian. Then Spyridon convinced him with the words of the Apostle Paul: “Moreover, you should not refuse food. After all, the Holy Scripture says: all things are pure for the pure (Titus 1:15).” The dispassionate ascetic transgressed the strict human charter for the sake of fulfilling the holy commandment of Christ, according to which love for God and people is a good, the highest of all good.
The saint had a special spiritual and family connection with his my own daughter Irina, who died during Spyridon’s stay in Nicaea at the first Ecumenical Council. Shortly before her sudden death, a certain noble lady gave her a very valuable piece of jewelry for safekeeping. Irina safely hid the gold item in her father’s house. The saint was at the Council in Nicaea and therefore knew nothing about it. When he returned to Trimifunt, the owner of the jewel came to him and asked him to return the gold. The Bishop carefully searched the entire house, but did not find anyone else’s treasure. The noble lady began to cry and began to tear out her hair. The loss of such a valuable thing could result in an irreparable disaster for her. Justice itself prompted the magnanimous shepherd to find gold, because his daughter, albeit unwittingly, with her premature death deprived the woman who had trusted her of considerable wealth. Sincerely wanting to help the owner of the jewelry, Spiridon, who always deeply sympathized with the grief of people, went with his tearful guest and several companions to the cemetery. The saint entered the crypt where the dead body of the girl lay, and with unshakable faith and firm trust in God he addressed her as if he were a living person: “My daughter Irina! In the name of our Lord Jesus Christ, tell me where did you hide this woman’s jewelry? Oh great miracle! By God’s permission, Irina seemed to awaken from a sound sleep and, listening to the bishop, answered: “My lord, I kept gold in our house.” And she told where the treasure was buried. Awe and amazement gripped everyone present at such an amazing event. When Irina’s voice fell silent, the father said tenderly: “Now, my child, rest in peace until Christ resurrects you after the Second Coming.” The all-glorious hierarch returned home, immediately found the jewelry and returned the gold to its owner, and she, along with other witnesses of the miracle, glorified God and our holy father Spyridon with joy and jubilation.
The saint, with his meek disposition and admonition, healed people from the destructive passion of love of money and thirst for unrighteous gain. There are many known miraculous cases that occurred through his prayers. One day a livestock dealer came to Spiridon and asked to sell a hundred goats from his herd. The saint did not bargain with the guest about the price. The merchant, realizing that he was dealing with God's man, decided to take advantage of the ruler’s honesty. He left payment at the bishop's house for only 99 goats. Spiridon did not count the money and went with the buyer to the herd. When they approached the pen, the perspicacious shepherd said: “Come in, child, and take as many goats as you paid me for.” Obsessed with a passion for profit, the merchant counted out 100 heads and released the herd beyond the fence. All the goats followed the new owner, and only one of them ran back. The greedy trader drove her out of the pen several times, but the goat immediately returned to its rightful owner. The merchant could not understand why the animal was doing this. He got angry and tried to carry someone else's property on his shoulders. However, the goat butted the buyer's head with its horns and bleated very loudly. The magnanimous saint did not want to openly denounce the roguish guest and quietly said to his offender: “This unreasonable creature resisted for a reason, beats on your shoulders and screams. There is no need to fight her. Better go up to the house and check how much money you left there. Maybe you forgot to pay for it? The merchant realized that what he had done dishonest act known to the lord. He repented, asked Spiridon for forgiveness and paid in full for the herd. But the goat no longer resisted, and she calmly followed her new owner. The merchant was shocked by such a clear manifestation God's will and, glorifying the Lord, he eradicated in himself the destructive desire for covetousness. “The faithful servant of Christ Spyridon possessed the keys of the Kingdom of Heaven and knew exactly what healing medicine for passions should be given to a sinner. Therefore, the wise saint did not indulge the rich merchant’s vice of profit and did not give him an extra goat for free, but with the poor people who intended to steal his sheep, the shepherd exuding heartfelt kindness acted differently. The magnanimous ruler not only forgave them, but also generously gifted them.”
Spyridon had the pious custom of distributing part of his income to the poor or lending money without interest to his poor compatriots. One day, a Trimifunt shipowner came to him with a request to borrow some gold. The navigator wanted to buy goods in a foreign land and sell them at home at a profit. He was quite poor and intended to use the profits to feed his family. The Bishop gave the merchant what little he had collected for the holy church and his own needs. At the end of the voyage, the shipbuilder sold the goods and brought the debt to the bishop. “Go, child, and put the gold coins in the closet, where, as you saw, I took them for you,” said Spiridon. The owner of the ship followed the bishop's instructions. Time passed. The merchant still needed money, and every time he set off on a voyage, he asked the saint for gold to purchase goods, and after selling the cargo he invariably repaid the debt. It was profitable for the shipbuilder to borrow from Spiridon, because the responsive shepherd helped him without charging interest. The dispassionate ruler cared little about earthly goods and never counted money. He only asked the Trimifuntian merchant to put the gold coins in their place. The merchant borrowed from the bishop many times and always repaid the debt in full, but one day Satan, the father of lies, took possession of the sailor’s heart and instilled in him the idea of deceiving the righteous man. Seized by a passion for enrichment, the shipbuilder left the money not in the bishop's house, but in his own pocket. However, the hidden gold did not bring profit to the fraudster. It deprived his trade of success and, like fire, quickly consumed all the shipowner’s property. Soon the sailor became poor, and now extreme need brought the ruined merchant to the bishop's house. The long-suffering saint listened to the guest and humbly said: “Go, child, and take the money where you put it.” The shipbuilder pretended to be an honest man, looked into the closet and, finding nothing in it, reported this to the ruler. “Try to look better,” Spiridon advised. “After all, no one except you touched gold.” The navigator carefully examined the contents of the cabinet and, of course, did not find a single coin in it. The owner of the ship hoped that the bishop, distinguished by his simplicity and gullibility, would not find out about the fraud committed, and reported the loss. “If you returned the gold, then it is in the same place, but if you kept the money for yourself, then why look for it in the closet now?” - the bishop answered meekly.
Spyridon, as before in his relations with other money lovers, affectionately admonished the sinful navigator not to covet the good of others and not to stain his conscience with deceit and lies, but to earn money by hard work and help the poor. The merchant came to his senses, was ashamed and fell at the feet of the bishop. The kindly ruler immediately forgave the repentant robber and began to pray for him. The shipowner warmly thanked Spiridon for his leniency towards the dishonorable offense he had committed and left, marveling at the kindness of the merciful old man.
An equally striking incident occurred with the saint not far from the capital of the island of Crete, when the bishop came to the local church, but due to overwork, asked the deacon not to delay the service. However, the elder’s request was not heard and the ambitious cleric continued to offer prayers extremely slowly for show. With his spiritual eyes, the godly saint saw the obstinate peasant’s destructive passion for vanity and, wanting to humble the proud man, he menacingly exclaimed: “Shut up, creator of disobedience!” So that all disobedience would receive a righteous reward (Heb. 2:2), the Lord, without the slightest delay, took away the voice of the daring servant, and he, opening his mouth, made only indistinct sounds. The people present in the church were amazed by the power of the words of the wondrous archpastor and looked at the bishop in amazement. While the saint himself was finishing reading the prayer, rumors of God’s punishment that befell the deacon spread throughout the entire village and deeply upset his relatives and friends. They came to Spyridon and began to beg the miracle worker to save their guilty fellow countryman from an illness that would not allow him to serve in the church and receive support to feed his family from the income of the temple. And the dumb cleric fell at the feet of the bishop and, shedding tears, begged for forgiveness with signs. From then on, the cleric spoke in a hoarse voice and stuttered a little, but his tongue-tiedness did not weaken, but strengthened his faith. The deacon received his sight in spirit, was chaste, and until the end of his life served as an example for posterity of how dangerous it is to disobey the holy elders and to be proud of people.

Towards the end of his life, the saint was honored with a special visit from God to strengthen the close friends around him in the faith. Just like in a conversation St. Seraphim with N.A. Motovilov, in which the saint’s face became brighter than the sun, and lightning rained from his eyes, so with Saint Spyridon, according to eyewitnesses, a miraculous transformation took place before their eyes. During the summer harvest, the saint worked in his field. The elder's friends helped him harvest. Although there was no rain, several drops like dew suddenly fell from the sky and only watered Spiridon's head. After such a strange phenomenon, another inexplicable miracle immediately occurred. The ruler's hair changed color: part of it turned out to be black, another became white, and the third became yellow. Friends of the Bishop of Trimifunt looked with amazement at the amazing change in the appearance of the bishop. And Spiridon, thanks to insight from above, learned about the hour when the Heavenly Father would call him to the eternal abodes, and acquired the ability to see distant events as if they were happening now. The heart of the righteous man was filled with the grace of the Holy Spirit, and with inexpressible joy the God-bearing hierarch prophetically announced:

“I predict to you, brothers, that the Lord will crown my memory with glory and many people, both old and young, will annually celebrate the day of my repose at the tomb with my body. I, as you see, am poor, but by the will of the man-loving God I will be able to give parishioners those saving benefits of the Mountainous Jerusalem, which I myself acquired from the Most High Creator, so that they would come to know the Indivisible Holy Trinity - the One True God. I will earnestly ask the Lord to grant them great mercy and eternal life.”

As we already wrote above, even more miracles through the prayers of Saint Spyridon were performed after his death. There are many reliable testimonies about the saint’s ambulance to everyone with sincere faith and those who turn to him with hope. Thus, the great Optina elder Ambrose, in one of his letters to his spiritual children, mentions a miracle that is difficult to explain for atheists, witnessed by the great Russian writer Nikolai Vasilyevich Gogol. The latter, like many other Russian writers and philosophers, often visited Optina Pustyn - a monastery that is one of the main spiritual centers of Russia, where the writer had his spiritual father. Once again in Optina, Nikolai Vasilyevich told his confessor and all the monastic brethren about a miraculous phenomenon that happened before his eyes during a trip abroad. It happened during his pilgrimage to the holy relics of the saint of God, Saint Spyridon of Trimifuntsky. On the day when Gogol came to venerate the saint, believers, as is customary every year on December 12 (25), with great solemnity carried the holy relics around the city. At the same time, everyone present usually applies them with reverence and reverence. However, this time among them was a certain English traveler, naturally, nurtured on the skepticism and rationalism of Protestant culture. He allowed himself to notice that, apparently, incisions were made in the saint’s back and the body was carefully embalmed. A little later he came closer to the relics. Imagine his amazement, bordering on horror, when the relics of the saint, in front of everyone... slowly rose from the reliquary and turned their backs precisely to this “ideological” heir of the Apostle Thomas, nicknamed “the unbeliever”: here, my friend, look for “ your own cuts! What is the further fate of this honorable Briton, unfortunately, is unknown. Gogol was shocked by this miracle to the very depths of his soul.
Father Justin, rector of the Church of St. Spyridon in the city of Kerkyra (Corfu island, Greece), says that one day there was an unbelieving fisherman named Spiro (Spyridon): “When he went out to sea, a storm began. His ship sank and he himself went under water. Suddenly Saint Spyridon pulled him onto land. The fisherman, in order to check that it was the Saint who saved him, ran to the temple, and there the monks unsuccessfully tried to open the ark with the relics. And the ark was opened only when the fisherman came. St. Spyridon's slippers had wet seaweed and shells on them. The fisherman immediately spent all his fortune on a golden lamp, which to this day remains the only one made of pure gold with us.”
Saint Spyridon of Trimifuntsky has always been revered in Rus' as the patron saint of the poor, homeless, and suffering. Temples were built in his honor and streets were named. Spiridonovka Street is famous in the center of Moscow on Presnya between Malaya Nikitskaya Street and Sadovaya-Kudrinskaya Street. It received this name (until 1941 - Spiridonievskaya Street) from the Church of Spiridon, Bishop of Trimifuntsky on Goat Swamp, known since 1627, but blown up in 1930. The church was erected by the father of the first Russian Tsar from the Romanov family, His Holiness Patriarch Filaret, in his domain on the Goat Swamp, where the goats of the Patriarchal Court were grazed. Now there is a residential building on the site of the bombed temple.
Saint Spyridon is heavenly patron livestock and peasant labor, because even as a bishop he worked on the land. It is significant that on the icons the saint is depicted not in a miter, but in a cap made of sheep's wool. Peasant food, abstinence in everyday life, reaching the point of poverty, a shepherd's hat - all this is so unlike the signs of the priesthood. But the inner riches of grace that Spyridon carried within himself forced his contemporaries to remember the names of the prophets Elijah and Elisha. The Cypriot farmers were happy to have such a bishop, since heaven obeyed the saint. In case of drought, Spyridon’s prayers inclined God to mercy, and the long-awaited rain watered the earth.
The saint also often acts as the patron of the Orthodox army. Thus, during the Kazan campaign on the road from Moscow, St. Spyridon of Trimifuntsky appeared to Tsar Ivan Vasilyevich the Terrible. The saint spiritually strengthened the Tsar in his determination to defeat the adversaries and free the Kazan people from the Nogai usurpers. After the victory, on the site of the miraculous appearance, the Tsar, according to his vow, erected the Spiridonyevsky Monastery. This monastery has not survived to this day, but a worship cross was erected in its place.
During the war with Ottoman Empire December 11 (24), that is, on the eve of the holiday of Spyridon of Trimifuntsky, under the command of the glorious Russian commander A.V. Suvorov, the assault on the Turkish fortress of Izmail was victoriously completed. That is why a marching military unit was stationed in the Izmail mosque that same evening. Orthodox church. It was dedicated to the holy Wonderworker Spyridon. The winner of Izmail, Alexander Vasilyevich Suvorov, reported on December 13, 1790 in a letter to the Empress’s chief nobleman, Prince Potemkin: “Forgive me for not writing myself: my eyes hurt from the smoke... Today we will have a grateful prayer service at our new Spiridonius. It will be sung by the Polotsk priest, who was with the Cross before this glorious regiment.”
In 1797, the revolutionary troops of Bonaparte invaded the island of Corfu, where the relics of Spyridon of Trimifuntsky had rested since the 15th century. Emperor Paul I decided on the need, having entered into a coalition now with the Turks, to send troops to liberate the Ionian Islands from the French. Admiral F.F. Ushakov, later canonized, took an impregnable fortress on the island of Corfu (Kerkyra) and liberated it and a number of other islands of the Ionian Sea from the French.
Spyridon of Trimifuntsky was called to be the patron of many of the best troops in Russia, building temples and chapels at the regiments in his honor, dedicating chapels to him. For the 100th anniversary of the Finnish Regiment in St. Petersburg, the chapel of Spyridon of Trimifuntsky was built, assigned to the regimental Spiridonyevskaya Church. Nowadays it has been preserved, and services are held there.
It is believed that in the first half of the 18th century the name of Spiridon of Trimifuntsky was forgotten in Russia. But in 1777, 12 (25) in the family of the heir to the throne Pavel Petrovich, a son, Alexander Pavlovich, was born - the grandson and pupil of Tsarina Catherine I. With the birth of the Grand Duke, the feast of St. Spyridon began to be especially celebrated as the Royal Day.
In the Moscow Church of the Resurrection of the Word on the Assumption Vrazhek (1634) there is a revered icon of St. Spyridon with a particle of his holy relics. In the Church of the Intercession of the Danilov Monastery in Moscow there is kept a shoe with the relics of St. Spyridon, donated to the monastery in 2007 by Metropolitan Nektarios of Kerkyra, Paxi and the surrounding islands.
The relics of Saint Spyridon were in Constantinople until its capture by the Turks. After this, the incorrupt body was transported to the Greek island of Corfu (local name Kerkyra). Having learned about the greatest treasure that they had received, the Corkyreans built a temple for the relics and to this day consider St. Spyridon the patron saint of their island. The body of Saint Spyridon has a constant temperature: 36.6 degrees. His hair and nails are growing. And what’s most surprising is that the clothes he’s wearing are changed every six months, because they get worn out, as if he’s not lying in a cancer bed, but walking. The keeper of the shrine said that there were cases when the key simply could not open the lock on the shrine. And then the priests know that there is simply no saint in cancer, he walks around the island.

IN Orthodox world he is revered as a “walking” saint - the velvet shoes worn on his feet wear out and are replaced with new ones several times a year. And the worn-out shoes are cut into pieces and handed over to believers as a great shrine. According to the testimony of Greek clergy, during the “changing of shoes” a response movement is felt. In Greece itself, eighty churches bear the name of Saint Spyridon, thereby marking the widespread veneration of his memory, sincere love and gratitude of believers. In Russia greatest number churches in honor of the saint are located in St. Petersburg.

Holy Hierarch Father Spyridon, pray to God for us!

In the Orthodox Church there are miraculous images of saints to whom believers turn for help. There are many living examples when, thanks to them, a person found a way out of a difficult situation.

Some cases of help seem incredible. Each saint has his own special power. Spyridon of Trimifuntsky was considered a noble miracle worker during his lifetime. And today he does not leave people in trouble. The main way of addressing a saint is the akathist.

Saint Spyridon

To understand the saint you need to get into it the spirit of the time when he worked and lived. The clergy talk about this. Many events that took place in the life of Saint Spyridon have been preserved to this day. He was born in 270. The island of Cyprus is his homeland. From an early age the boy worked and tended sheep.

He led a virtuous life, had a sound mind and a bright soul. For his good deeds he was made a bishop. But even so significant church rite did not change anything in Spiridon. He also plowed the land on his own, was humble, and helped everyone in need from his income. He had a great love for people and incredible faith. For this, the Lord gave him a gift: to heal, cast out demons and provide various help in solving other problems. He also had a special power - control of nature. Spiridon married in adulthood, but his beloved soon died. Spiridon came to terms with this loss and did not stop helping people.

Being a clergyman, he decided to distribute his property to families who were in distress. And he himself went to wander and do incredible things.

Approximately in 348 During prayer, the Almighty turned to him and warned Spiridon about his imminent death.

The relics of the saint are in his homeland. People are shocked by the fact that his body has practically not changed its appearance during this time. Every year, the temple servants carry out a procedure to dress the saint in new clothes and shoes. It is worth noting that every time St. Spyridon’s slippers are worn out.

It seems that he still travels the world to this day to provide his assistance to those in need. Worn down shoes are cut into several parts. Afterwards, the parts are sent to different cities and countries, where they are used as shrines. Spiridon Memorial Day is December 25.

Text of the akathist in Russian:

Glorified by the Lord to Saint and miracle worker Spyridon! Now we celebrate your all-honorable memory, as to Him who is able to help us greatly in Christ who glorified you, we cry out to you touchingly: deliver us from all troubles and evils, and let us cry to you with thanksgiving:

From youth, adorned with all the virtues, imitating the Angel in your life, you, Saint Spyridon, truly appeared to be a friend of Christ; We, seeing you, a heavenly man and an earthly angel, with reverence and touching cry to you:

Rejoice, O mind, contemplating the mysteries of the Holy Trinity; Rejoice, being enriched by the Spirit with the most radiant illumination.
Rejoice, many-bright lamp; Rejoice, your mind is enlightened by dispassion.
Rejoice, having loved true simplicity and silence from childhood; Rejoice, ornament of chastity.
Rejoice, inexhaustible stream of love; Rejoice, for you imitated Abraham’s love of homosexuality.
Rejoice, for you lovingly opened the entrances of your house to everyone; Rejoice, representative of the poor.
Rejoice, people revere him; Rejoice, for you are the dwelling place of the Holy Spirit.
Rejoice, Spiridon, wonderful miracle worker!

Seeing the island of Cyprus and all the Christian countries, your incorruptible relics, O saint, abundant healing flows from them, rejoicing; and we, honoring you as an abundant source of grace sent down to us from Above, cry out to the Supreme Giver of Heavenly and earthly blessings: Alleluia.

Having the Divine Mind, even if you are a shepherd of the wordless sheep, you were chosen by the will of the Chief Shepherd Christ to be the shepherd of the verbal sheep. The faithful one, understanding you as a good shepherd, vigilantly caring for your flock, sang:

Rejoice, bishop of the Most High God, who at your consecration abundantly received Divine grace; Rejoice, many-bright lamp, burn and shine.
Rejoice, faithful worker in the city of Christ; Rejoice, shepherd, who raised his flock in the pasture of faith and piety.
Rejoice, enlightening the world with the radiance of your virtues; Rejoice, you who offer the Divine Sacrifice to the Throne of Christ.
Rejoice, hierarch, adorned with the understanding of Orthodoxy; Rejoice, filled with the apostolic teaching, infusing the faithful with streams of saving teaching.
Rejoice, for you have illuminated the wise too; Rejoice, for you have renewed even the simple hearts.
Rejoice, glory to the Orthodox and to the Church, unshakable affirmation; Rejoice, adornment of the fathers, glory and praise of the reverent priests.

By the power of the Most High, which overshadowed you, you appeared to Saint Spyridon to be God-wise, and, squeezing the clay in your hands, you clearly understood the trinity of Persons to everyone: even so, the false wisdom of the philosophers who gathered at the Council were horrified, but glorified God with the faith of the incomprehensible, who made you wise for salvation, crying out to Him: Alleluia.

Having you in their thoughts, all the fathers of the Council are simple, unskilled in book teaching, praying to you, Father Spyridon, not to quarrel with the ancients, who imagine themselves to be wise. But you, O saint, inflamed with zeal for God, believing that the preaching of Christ is not in the transcendental wisdom of human words, but in the manifestation of the spirit and power, you have exposed him with wisdom, enlightened him and guided him on the true path. Everyone who saw this miracle cried out:

Rejoice, light of Orthodox wisdom; Rejoice, for you have put to shame those who were said to be wise interrogators.
Rejoice, source of abundant grace; Rejoice, unshakable pillar, firmly supporting those who are in the faith.
Rejoice, darkening the all-pernicious heresy; Rejoice, madness has been trampled under foot.
Rejoice, for the dust of the earth has left the Holy Trinity in your hands; Rejoice, for you brought forth fire and water from clay to confirm the dogma of the Holy Trinity.
Rejoice, for you have enlightened people to glorify the Word, truly consubstantial with the Eternal Father; Rejoice, for you have defeated the serpentine head of the destructive Aryan heresies.
Rejoice, for you have sacrificed malice; Rejoice, thou who converted the unfaithful sage and interrogator to the true faith.
Rejoice, Spyridone, wonderful miracle worker.

Living your life in squalor and poverty, you were a nourisher and helper to the poor and poor, and, for the sake of love for the poor, you turned the serpent into gold and gave it to those who needed your help. Marveling at this miracle, we cry out to God in gratitude: Alleluia.

It was heard by everyone and everywhere that Saint Spyridon is truly the dwelling place of the Holy Trinity: for God the Father, God the Word and God the Holy Spirit dwell in him. For this reason, you preached in words and deeds the incarnate true God to all Christians, crying:

Rejoice, more mysterious are the words of God; Rejoice, having understood the economy of God for the salvation of the world.
Rejoice, for you taught us not to test what is beyond human reason and wisdom; Rejoice, you who have revealed the incomprehensible power of God operating in you.
Rejoice, for God Himself has spoken through your lips; Rejoice, for I will listen to you all for sweetness.
Rejoice, you who have dispersed the darkness of idolatry; Rejoice, for you have led many to the true faith.
Rejoice, for you have struck down the heads of the invisible serpents; Rejoice, for through you the Christian faith is glorified.
Rejoice, for you illuminate with light all those who please you; Rejoice, champion of the Christian faith and Orthodoxy.
Rejoice, Spyridone, wonderful miracle worker.

You were filled with the Divine Spirit, Saint Spyridon, for the sake of your virtuous life; You were meek, merciful, pure in heart, patient, unforgettable, a lover of strangers: for this reason the Creator showed you in miracles. We, glorifying God, who glorified you, cry out to Him: Alleluia.

We see the equal angel of Spyridon, the great wonderworker. The country once suffered greatly from lack of rain and drought: there was famine and plague, and many people died, but through the prayers of the saint rain came down from heaven to earth; The people, having been delivered from the disaster, cried out in gratitude:

Rejoice, you have become like the great prophet Elijah; Rejoice, for the rain, which takes away hunger and illness, brought down good times.
Rejoice, having once again closed heaven with your prayers; Rejoice, for you punished the unmerciful merchant with deprivation of his property.
Rejoice, for you have abundantly given food to those who need it; Rejoice, for you strive for the love of God towards people.
Rejoice, take away the infirmities of the weak; Rejoice, God-gracious helper of man.
Rejoice, give health to the sick; Rejoice, for whom the demons tremble.
Rejoice, source of countless miracles.
Rejoice, Spyridone, wonderful miracle worker.

The veil of the Old Testament tabernacle covered the Holy of Holies with the ark, manna and tablets. And your temple, to Saint Spyridon, has your reliquary, like an ark, your holy relics, like manna, your heart, like the tablets of Divine grace, on which we see the song inscribed: Alleluia.

The people of Cyprus were once punished by the Lord with the barrenness of the land for the increase of lawlessness, when a well-known farmer came to Saint Spyridon, asking for help, and gave him holy gold; Having passed the disaster, that farmer returned the gold again, And - about a miracle - the serpent became gold. Glorifying God, who is wonderful in His saints, we cry:

Rejoice, for you imitated Moses, who miraculously transferred the rod into the serpent; Rejoice, O loving shepherd, delivering the verbal sheep of your flock from troubles.
Rejoice, richly enriching everyone with all blessings; Rejoice, as Elijah, who nourished the poor.
Rejoice, turn the unmerciful to mercy; Rejoice, venerable example of love for people living in the world.
Rejoice, consolation for the faithful and the unfaithful in troubles; Rejoice, hay-leaved tree, overshadowing the city and the country.
Rejoice, glory and praise to the Corcyraeans; Rejoice, you have dominion over moisture and dryness, heat and cold, by the grace of God.
Rejoice, changing the rules of the earth through prayer; Rejoice, you who are to come, as if you are the present, you who have foreseen.
Rejoice, Spyridone, wonderful miracle worker.

You appeared as an intercessor before the Lord for everyone, Saint Spyridon. For this reason, we also come running under your roof, seeking salvation, for we are all imams who help you in all your needs, during times of famine, deadly plagues and in all times of troubles and temptations. For this reason, we cry out to God with gratitude: Alleluia.

We see a new miracle and it is magnificent; When you, father, were marching to deliver an innocent man condemned to death, a stormy stream blocked your path; You, in the name of Almighty God, commanded him to stand and you and your companions walked across the river, as if on dry land. The glory of this miracle spread everywhere, and everyone glorified God, crying out to you:

Rejoice, for sometimes Joshua walked across the Jordan river on dry ground; Rejoice, river aspiration taming with your voice.
Rejoice, for you have undertaken a difficult path, driven by mercy; Rejoice, for you have destroyed slander and delivered the innocent from the bonds of prison and vain death.
Rejoice, hastening life according to God; Rejoice, protector of the innocently oppressed.
Rejoice, changer of the statutes of the watery nature; Rejoice, for you taught the judge and saved him from murder.
Rejoice, true correction of souls; Rejoice, wondrous power, holding back the streams.
Rejoice, you who delight the hearts of people who come to you; Rejoice, imitator of Abraham's love for mankind.
Rejoice, Spyridone, wonderful miracle worker.

You were a wanderer and a stranger on earth, like other people. Moreover, from the womb of the mother, the Omniscient One showed you the great saint and wonderworker, Saint Spyridon: you cast out demons, you healed every disease and ulcer, you saw the thoughts of people, and thus you appeared marvelous among the saints. We, sending up prayer to God, the Benefactor of all, cry out to him: Alleluia.

The whole world will tremble with horror when it hears how death, at your voice, returns its dead from their graves, and cry out:

Saving the souls of the flock, entrusted to you by God, you, Saint Spyridon, by the will of God, were called to show your glory, especially the glory of the true God, and to other countries, so that everywhere they glorify the name of God, crying out: Alleluia.

There was an angelic singing when you offered Thy evening prayers to St. Spyridon in the temple, and those who served with you were not mad. The inhabitants of the city, having heard the wondrous singing, entered the temple and, seeing no one, sang with the powers of the Mountains: Alleluia.

O most wonderful saint of Christ, Father Spyridon! Our current prayer is accepted, deliver us from all troubles and misfortunes, strengthen our country against our enemies, grant us forgiveness of sins and save from eternal death all those who cry out to God about you: Alleluia!

The life path of a saint and miracles performed

Saint Spyridon, or Bishop of Salamis, lived on earth almost eighteen centuries ago, but, despite this, history has preserved many facts about personal life and the good deeds of the miracle worker. He was born around 270 on the island of Cyprus into a wealthy shepherd family.

From childhood, he led a lifestyle similar to the biblical righteous: he was quiet and meek, hardworking, often gave shelter to strangers, the homeless and the hungry, and lent money to the poor. He never refused anyone who asked and did not demand the repayment of the debt on time. “You will return it when you can,” Saint Spyridon addressed these words to everyone who came to him for help and support.

In his youth, the future clergyman met an intelligent, modest girl and married her. A child appeared in the family, but their calm and serene life did not last long - Spiridon’s wife soon died. This event completely changed the life of the young shepherd. He forgave the debts of all his debtors, distributed what he had acquired over the years of continuous work to the poor and set off to wander around the world. Legends say that during his wanderings the saint performed many amazing miracles.

Even before he left his earthly monastery, the Bishop of Salamis was famous for the divine power bestowed upon him by heaven. He raised those broken by illness to their feet, drove out possessed demons, knew how to heal the soul and body of a person, dominated the natural elements and even revived the dead. The miraculous right hand of St. Spyridon of Trimifuntsky from the island of Corfu (Greece)

O blessed Saint Spyridon! Beg the mercy of God, the Lover of Mankind, not to judge us for our iniquities, but to deal with us according to His mercy. Ask us, God's servants (names), from Christ and our God for a peaceful and serene life, mental and physical health. Deliver us from all spiritual and physical troubles, from all yearnings and the devil’s slander. Remember us at the throne of the Almighty and beg the Lord to grant us forgiveness of many of our sins, a comfortable and peaceful life, and grant us a shameless and peaceful death and eternal bliss in the future, so that we may continually send glory and thanksgiving to the Father and the Son and Holy Spirit, now and ever and unto ages of ages. Amen.

Psalm 37, read if things are going badly and there is no money. Read every day until the situation improves

Lord, do not reprove me with Your wrath; do not punish me with Your wrath. As Thy arrows have struck me, and Thou hast strengthened Thy hand upon me. There is no healing in my flesh from the face of Your wrath, there is no peace in my bones from the face of my sin. For my iniquities have exceeded my head, for a heavy burden is heavy upon me. My wounds have grown stale and rotten because of my madness. I suffered and sloshed to the end, walking around complaining all day. For my body is filled with reproach, and there is no healing in my flesh. I would become embittered and humbled to death, roaring from the sighing of my heart. Lord, before You all my desire and my sighing are not hidden from You. My heart is confused, my strength has left me, and the light of my eyes has left me, and that one is not with me. My friends and my sincere ones have come close to me and stasha, and my neighbors are far away from me, stasha and needy, seeking my soul, and seeking evil to me, vain words and flattering ones all day long. As if I were deaf and did not hear, and because I was dumb and did not open my mouth. And as a man he would not hear, nor would he have reproach in his mouth. For in You, O Lord, I have trusted; You will hear, O Lord my God. As if he said: “Let my enemies never make me happy; and never can my feet move, but you speak against me.” As if I am ready for wounds, and my illness is before me. For I will proclaim my iniquity and take care of my sin. My enemies live and have become stronger than me, and those who hate me without truth have multiplied. Those who reward me with evil, repaying the slander of me, persecute the goodness. Do not forsake me, O Lord my God, do not depart from me. Come to my help, O Lord of my salvation. Amen.

I appeal to you, angel of Christ. He also protected me and protected me, and kept me, for I have not sinned before and will not sin in the future against faith. So respond now, come down on me and help me. I worked very hard, and now you see my honest hands with which I worked. So let it be, as Scripture teaches, that labor will be rewarded. Reward me according to my labors, so that my toil-weary hand may be filled, and I may live comfortably and serve God. Fulfill the will of the Almighty and bless me with earthly bounties according to my labors. Amen.

Prayer for money, for prosperity, to Saint Spyridon of Trimythous

In the Orthodox Church there are saints for “all occasions” who help in all sorts of matters. There is also a saint to whom one can and should pray in times of need, to solve the housing problem, to improve material well-being; they pray to him when there is no money.

The name of this saint is Saint Spyridon, Bishop of Trimifuntsky (Salamin).

Biography, biography of Spiridon of Trimifuntsky

Spiridon Trimifuntsky Even during his lifetime he was a great miracle worker. He healed the terminally ill, healed both physical and mental illnesses, cast out demons and even raised the dead. With a special gift from St. Spyridon of Trimifuntsky had power over the forces of nature. Spyridon of Trimifuntsky came from a simple peasant family, he was an ordinary shepherd, and therefore on the icons of St. Spyridon is depicted wearing a shepherd's hat. Having no education, he naturally had a sound mind and a bright soul.

He knew very well what poverty and need were, and always helped people solve material problems. It is known, for example, that a miracle was performed by St. Spiridon.

... "One poor man needed grain for sowing. He asked one merchant to give him a loan, but the merchant demanded a large deposit, and the peasant had no money. Then this man went to Bishop Spyridon. The Bishop ordered not to lose heart and hope for God's help. The next day, Spiridon himself came to the poor man and brought him gold, saying, “Give this money to the merchant and take the grain, and when you reap the harvest and you have a surplus of grain, buy this deposit and bring it to me.” The peasant did so. , reaped the harvest, which, through the prayers of the wonderworker Spyridon, turned out to be unusually rich, bought the gold and brought it to his benefactor. Spyridon took the gold and invited the peasant to go to the garden to thank the One who took pity on him and so generously lent him money.

Entering the garden, St. Spyridon of Trimifuntsky said a prayer, and a piece of gold suddenly moved and turned into a snake, which crawled into its hole. For the sake of the needs of his neighbor, the miracle worker turned a snake into gold, and then turned gold back into a snake."

Helping people solve material problems during their lifetime, St. Spyridon of Trimifuntsky is also known for his many posthumous miracles, which are performed by prayerful appeal to him.

Saint Spyridon of Trimifunt helps to find a job, earn money, buy and sell an apartment, car, and other property. Resolve legal issues related to money matters, real estate, and much, much more.

Here are some examples modern miracles, which occurred through the prayers of Spyridon of Trimyphuntus (from the book “Saint Spyridon of Trimyphuntus. Life. Miracles. Canon Akathist”, Danilov Monastery Publishing House, Moscow, 2008):

"... A major Ural civil servant had serious problems with legal registration real estate. He went to Moscow and venerated the relics of St. Spiridon, and asked for help. Returning to the Urals, the problem was solved on the same day."

"... The director of a company working with commercial real estate could not sell the premises for three years. After he kissed the right hand of St. Spyridon and asked for help, he managed to make a profitable deal to sell the premises."

"...After the birth of their fifth child, a married couple decided to move from Moscow to the countryside. We had to travel almost the entire Moscow region in search of suitable option, but it was impossible to find him. They began to pray to Saint Spyridon, Saint Nicholas and the Mother of God of Novodvorskaya (December 20/January 2).

After some time, they were offered a house that they really liked, but they only had three weeks to sell their Moscow apartment. Hoping for the help of Saint Spyridon, the family continued to pray.

One day Julia shared her problem with a friend; It turned out that he had a banker friend with whom he promised to talk. But the documents for the house were not ready, and therefore the hope that they would be provided with a loan was illusory. However, a miracle happened - without unnecessary delays they were given money to buy a house. Then Yulia and her husband sold the apartment without any difficulty and returned the money to the bank."

"...The servant of God Tatiana came to the relics of St. Spyridon in the Danilov Monastery to thank the Saint for his help. Last year she had a difficult housing situation. Friends advised her to turn to St. Spyridon for help. Only then did she hear this name and find out that there is such a saint. Tatiana asked her friend to find a prayer to St. Spyridon, but the friend had also not heard anything about him. Still, it was decided to look in the prayer books. When they began to take books out of the closet, a sheet of paper fell out of one. Tatiana picked it up and saw that "This is the text of a prayer to St. Spyridon. She began to pray to him every day, and after some time her problem was successfully resolved."

In St. Petersburg Orthodox magazine"Spiritual City" published materials about numerous cases of miraculous help from St. Spyridon.

"... Music teacher A. found herself with a small child in a communal room with her parents. No work, no money. A friend asked to prepare her daughter for entering the seminary, but warned that she could not pay, since she herself had no money. Instead payment, she promised to read for forty days for A. an akathist to St. Spyridon. The woman agreed. And when the prayer began, disciples went to A., and such disciples that she was soon able to buy herself one-room apartment, and then found a permanent job. "

The Holy One does not reject even non-believers. The militant atheist said in frustration: “Eh, Spiridon! If you are so strong, give me an apartment next to you!” Now she lives on the 20th line next to his chapel.

For his help with housing, Saint Spyridon is called “the mayor of all cities.”

Priest I. (St. Petersburg diocese) testifies:

"...In a temple near Jerusalem there is miraculous icon Saint Spyridon. She updated herself and switched to glass. The Greeks told us that if anyone wants to change their home or is experiencing difficulties in their family, they should pray to the Saint before her, he will definitely help. And we lived on the first floor with mice, the house was dilapidated. They prayed both in front of the icon and at home. I read the akathist every Sunday. And now we have moved to new apartment. God sent means through His Saint. "

“... But not only the “housing issue” is solved by Saint Spyridon, there is evidence of help in all areas of life, and in health, of course. Drug addicts, alcoholics, the mentally ill and the possessed are healed.”

To solve money problems, for help in finding a job, in case of housing issues, etc., pray to St. Spyridon of Trimifuntsky!

How to pray correctly?

Many, having taken on such a feat, do not master it, and, of course, nothing works out.

First you need to purchase an icon of St. Spiridon. Addressing her (you can do it out loud, you can do it mentally), formulate your request. Then read a prayer, this one is recommended prayer, it is the simplest and at the same time very effective:

Prayer to Saint Spyridon of Trimifunt (about money, for help in material and housing problems):

O blessed Saint Spyridon!

Beg the mercy of God, the Lover of Mankind, not to judge us for our iniquities, but to deal with us according to His mercy. Ask us, God's servants (names), from Christ and God for our peaceful, serene life, mental and physical health. Deliver us from all spiritual and physical troubles, from all yearnings and the devil’s slander.

Remember us at the throne of the Almighty and beg the Lord to grant us forgiveness for many of our sins, grant us a comfortable and peaceful life, and grant us a shameless and peaceful death and eternal bliss in the future, so that we may continually send glory and thanksgiving to the Father and the Son and the Spirit Holy, now and ever, and unto ages of ages.

Saint Spyridon in earthly life was known throughout Byzantium. His main cause was the defense of the Orthodox faith. For this, the Lord gave him the power of miraculous prayer. One day, through the prayer of the saint, a dead child was resurrected, which was a rare case in sacred history.

17 centuries have passed since the death of Saint Spyridon, but people's love to him did not fade away thanks to the help sent from heaven. For constant prayerful communication with the saint, church writers At different times, hymns, a service, a canon and an akathist to Spyridon of Trimifunt were compiled. Services can be heard in the church on the day of remembrance of the saint; believers read the akathist at home or order it at prayer services.

Interesting. Akathist singing was borrowed Orthodox Church from Greek poetry glorifying pagan gods. But the grace of God operating in the Church made the words of the akathist holy, having the power to help those who pronounce them with faith.

Ancient customs prescribed that the akathist be performed in a cathedral, that is, by a group of people. United prayer reaches God more easily. The Lord also hears individual prayer, but commands people to gather more often, pray for each other, showing Christian love. By forgiving the sins of his neighbors, a person can hope that God will forgive his sins, and Saint Spyridon will beg the Lord to send help to the one praying.

Inclusion of the Akathist in the prayer rule

Akathist to Spyridon of Trimifuntsky - strong prayer. First, you should take a blessing from the priest for the prayer rule. The rule is a sequence of prayers read daily, morning and evening. These prayers are addressed to the Lord and the Mother of God. In special cases, when the prayerful help of a saint is required, for the morning or evening rule an akathist is added for a certain number of days. If until now a person has not attended church or followed the house rules, then there is a reason to start doing so.

Important. Saint Spyridon, a minister and defender of the Orthodox faith, more readily prays for Christians who live according to the commandments of God and church rules. Home prayer cannot replace church sacraments- Confession and Communion.

Akathist is a prayer that lasts a long time, is read while standing and requires patience and strength. Even if the request was quickly fulfilled by the saint, the reading cannot be stopped before the end of the rule.

In what cases should we read the akathist to St. Spyridon?

Traditionally, the akathist reads:

  • To strengthen faith. Fear of problems, poverty, illnesses are the consequences of insufficient faith that God, watching over His child, will definitely come to the rescue.
  • In material difficulties. In his earthly life, the Saint helped peasants and merchants a lot, lending money. He could help for free, but by demanding repayment, he encouraged borrowers to work. And now, receiving help from the Saint, you need to be ready to repay the debt, not with money, but prayers of thanksgiving and correction, participation in the life of the Church.
  • In the acquisition, sale, rental of housing. There is plenty of evidence of the saint’s help in this matter, precisely after reading the akathist.
  • In any request, you need to control yourself: does God please what the request will be used for? There were cases when, through the prayers of the saint, unmerciful rich people were deprived of their property.
  • to help with agricultural work. There are known cases when the saint saved fields and vegetable gardens from the invasion of harmful insects.

Akathist to Saint Spyridon of Trimythous

Akathist text and its meaning

The Akathist to Spiridon of Trimifuntsky was written by the priest of the Moscow church Alexander Tsvetkov in 1886.

Important. The solemn chant glorifies the saint, recalls some of his miracles and lists the requests of the person praying. First of all, they relate to the salvation of the soul, keeping the commandments and correct faith.

To make it easier to understand the text, you need to read the life of St. Spyridon. The kontakia describe episodes from it, and the ikos contain glorifications and petitions.

Icon of St. Spyridon of Trimythous

Words and expressions difficult to understand:

Kontakion 1 “who is able to help us greatly in Christ who glorified you” - who is able to help by the power of Christ who glorified you. The saints do not perform miracles themselves, but pray to the Lord, the only One from Whom comes help to man.

Ikos 2 “at the ordination he received abundantly Divine grace.” Consecration - consecration as a bishop, a solemn service in the church. During prayer, a special grace descends on a person, giving spiritual strength to manage correctly church life believers. Saint Spyridon also underwent such initiation.

Kontakion 3 “squeezing the clay with your hand.” Hand - palm. Here we describe an episode from the life of the saint, when he spoke at the Ecumenical Council with a sermon about God.

Ikos 3 “do not quarrel with words with a vitiator who pretends to be wise.” refers to the same event. Vitia is a skilled speaker and philosopher. Such people in Greece spoke in the squares, amazing the audience with their ability to debate. “Thinking” - thinking that he is wise.

How to read an akathist

The reading and singing of the akathist during the prayer service can be heard in churches dedicated to St. Spyridon. If it is not possible to visit the temple, it is better to listen to the recording of the performance in order to remember the melody of the choruses “Hail Spyridon, wonderful miracle worker” and “Hallelujah”. Chanting the main words will help you focus on prayer and become imbued with its spirit.

How to pray to Saint Spyridon:

  • Prayer to Saint Spyridon of Trimythous for the fulfillment of desires

The akathist is usually attached to the rule, but it can be read separately, at any time of the day.

The word "Akathist" means "not to sit." Reading or listening to chants while sitting is allowed only to the sick and infirm. Even if you are tired after work, you should force yourself to read the rule while standing, which will definitely be accepted by God for saving works.

Important. After each chorus, it is better to cross yourself and bow from the waist. These actions enliven prayer and force the body to work together with the spirit.

The last 13th kontakion of the Akathist is read three times, and “Hallelujah” is also pronounced three times. When reading prayers placed after the 13th kontakion, one usually kneels. Before the prayers they say “To Saint Father Spyridon, pray to God for us (for me)!”, at the end - “Amen”, which means “true”, complete agreement with the Orthodox teaching set out in the texts read.

Church of St. Spyridon of Trimifuntsky in Nagatinsky Zaton

Kontakion 1:

Glorified by the Lord to Saint and miracle worker Spyridon! Now we celebrate your all-honorable memory, as to Him who is able to help us greatly in Christ who glorified you, we cry out to you touchingly: deliver us from all troubles and evils, and let us cry to you with thanksgiving:

Ikos 1:

Kontakion 2:

Seeing the island of Cyprus and all the Christian countries, your incorruptible relics, O saint, abundant healing flows from them, rejoicing; and we, honoring you as an abundant source of grace sent down to us from Above, cry out to the Supreme Giver of Heavenly and earthly blessings: Alleluia.

Ikos 2:

Kontakion 3:

By the power of the Most High, which overshadowed you, you appeared to Saint Spyridon to be God-wise, and, squeezing the clay in your hands, you clearly understood the trinity of Persons to everyone: even so, the false wisdom of the philosophers who gathered at the Council were horrified, but glorified God with the faith of the incomprehensible, who made you wise for salvation, crying out to Him: Alleluia.

Ikos 3:

Kontakion 4:

Living your life in squalor and poverty, you were a nourisher and helper to the poor and poor, and, for the sake of love for the poor, you turned the serpent into gold and gave it to those who needed your help. Marveling at this miracle, we cry out to God in gratitude: Alleluia.

Ikos 4:

Kontakion 5:

You were filled with the Divine Spirit, Saint Spyridon, for the sake of your virtuous life; You were meek, merciful, pure in heart, patient, unforgettable, a lover of strangers: for this reason the Creator showed you in miracles. We, glorifying God, who glorified you, cry out to Him: Alleluia.

Ikos 5:

Kontakion 6:

The veil of the Old Testament tabernacle covered the Holy of Holies with the ark, manna and tablets. And your temple, to Saint Spyridon, has your reliquary, like an ark, your holy relics, like manna, your heart, like the tablets of Divine grace, on which we see the song inscribed: Alleluia.

Ikos 6:

Kontakion 7:

You appeared as an intercessor before the Lord for everyone, Saint Spyridon. For this reason, we also come running under your roof, seeking salvation, for we are all imams who help you in all your needs, during times of famine, deadly plagues and in all times of troubles and temptations. For this reason, we cry out to God with gratitude: Alleluia.

Ikos 7:

Kontakion 8:

You were a wanderer and a stranger on earth, like other people. Moreover, from the womb of the mother, the Omniscient One showed you the great saint and wonderworker, Saint Spyridon: you cast out demons, you healed every disease and ulcer, you saw the thoughts of people, and thus you appeared marvelous among the saints. We, sending up prayer to God, the Benefactor of all, cry out to him: Alleluia.

Ikos 8:

The whole world will tremble with horror when it hears how death, at your voice, returns its dead from their graves, and cry out:

O most wonderful saint of Christ, Father Spyridon! Our current prayer is accepted, deliver us from all troubles and misfortunes, strengthen our country against our enemies, grant us forgiveness of sins and save from eternal death all those who cry to God about you: Alleluia! (This kontakion is read three times, then ikos 1 and kontakion 1)

Troparion to Saint Spyridon, Bishop of Trimifunts, wonderworker

Troparion, tone 1:

At the First Council, you appeared as a champion and wonderworker, God-bearing Spyridon, Our Father. In the same way, you cried out to the dead in the tomb, and you turned the serpent into gold, and you always sang holy prayers to you, and you had angels co-serving with you, most sacred one. Glory to Him who gave you strength, glory to Him who crowned you, glory to Him who heals you all.
