The Ukrainian telephone numbers of Grandfather Babai, aka Alexander Mozhaev, have been unavailable for more than six months, and there is no news in his VKontakte group either. The last entry was made back in April - “Soon!”. That's all. What the Cossack volunteer who joined the militia in south-eastern Ukraine meant is not clear. However, he appeared on Odnoklassniki much more often. But he did not enter into correspondence with anyone, he only shared news about Ukraine, politics, and the situation in Donbass.
And then suddenly the following request appeared online: “I am collecting help for the family of the legendary hero of Novorossiya Babai! At the request of Sasha Babai. From the first days of the war, he went to Donbass as a volunteer... You all know that militias are not paid. They give their lives and health on the front line to protect the peoples of Russia and Novorossiya, and not for the sake of money. But while they protect us in the war, there is no one to support their families and no one to help them... I have known Babai and his wife Svetlana for a year now. But volunteers cannot feed their families. The militias have no money... Sasha can be helped financially to buy food, clothes for Babai’s children and wife, etc. or send parcels. Svetlana will provide the reports to everyone, and a bank account is opened in her name. Babai is at home now, but is soon going to the front line.”
38-year-old Alexander Mozhaev from Belorechensk received the nickname Babai in the south-east of Ukraine for his long beard and colorful appearance: camouflage covered in St. George ribbons, a machine gun, a Kubanka and epic yellow and black glasses. If you look at this outfit from the outside, it’s true - well, it’s just special forces, not even in Russian, but in Kuban.
Babai was in the Donbass for several months, but from there he had to leave along with the rest of the Cossacks. Now he is at home, in his native Belorechka, but he cannot get a job, and he has to feed his family. So he turned through his friends with a request to help him, if not with money, at least with food and clothing.
“Yes, my family now has a difficult financial situation,” Babai himself confirmed to Komsomolskaya Pravda. - Last September I entered Donbass, and left before the New Year. We were asked to leave. They said, if you want to live, leave. So it was very dangerous to be there. They began to disperse the Cossacks, some were even kept in basements. Thank God I got through it! So we had to leave. About 15 people left with us. But we plan to return back soon. However, exactly when is not yet known. For now we are waiting until September. But they don’t pay me for being a member of the militia. And I have a family, three children. I simply have nothing to support them with.

Alexander Mozhaev recently became a father for the third time. His youngest son Yakov is already three months old. The average is a year and two months. And my eldest daughter is already 10 years old.

We support our sons and daughter with child support, which the wife receives. She never worked. But this is a very small amount. After all, I need to get my daughter ready for school soon: notebooks, pens, a briefcase, buy clothes,” sighs Alexander Mozhaev. - We cannot spend maternity capital for our second child; our son is not yet three years old. And we have not yet received the governor’s 100 thousand rubles, which they give in Kuban for the third child. They say that within a year they will be in our hands. And I'm a man, I can't do anything. I have to feed my family. They don't hire me. Who needs a criminal element?

Cossack Babai was previously convicted of distributing cannabis. For this he was sentenced to nine years in prison, but after five years he was released for good behavior. The remaining four years were put on probation; the Cossack had to regularly report to the police station. But when he stopped appearing - that’s when the events in Crimea began, he was put on the wanted list.

Law enforcement agencies were also looking for Mozhaev in another case. In September 2013, he and his friend came to visit an Afghan veteran in Vyselki. Of course, we drank for the meeting. But they stayed on their feet. And then a car drove up to the house, the driver started honking. The brave lad came out and a fight broke out. The case ended with a police report being filed against the Cossack. They say he attacked the driver with a knife. As a result, a case was opened against Babai for threatening to kill or cause grievous bodily harm. Although Alexander Mozhaev himself says that he did not attack anyone and his case was fabricated. READ MORE.

All searches have been lifted from me. There have already been two trials in Belorechka, and I was granted an amnesty. But in Vyselki there will be a trial on August 5,” says the brave lad. - I often have to go there and give testimony. I don’t believe that I will be acquitted - everything has been seized and paid for a long time ago, although I am not guilty of anything. But they can give a condition. But in any case, I won’t just leave this matter and will fight to the end. And now I need to resolve all the issues with the law. And until I have achieved the truth, I cannot even shave off my beard. I promised myself that I would get rid of her only when I dealt with the courts.

While the colorful Cossack is wandering around the courts and looking for a job that would take him, the Mozhaevs have accumulated significant debts for gas.

The head of the district helped us - he allocated money, for which we thank him very much,” continues the father of many children and adds, “you know, I would go into politics, but I can’t.” All these courts, deadlines... But I will definitely return to Novorossiya!
My duty is to protect my native land!

DPR leader Alexander Zakharchenko died in Donetsk. He was fatally wounded in an explosion in a cafe. After his death, practically none of those who stood at the origins remained in power in Donbass. Many notable figures who appeared at the dawn of the “Russian Spring” no longer have any influence on the political life of the region. Ruposters tells about the fate of the founders and activists of the unrecognized republics.

The head of the DPR, Alexander Zakharchenko, died in the Separ cafe in the center of Donetsk from the explosion of a device planted in a chandelier or floor lamp next to the victim’s table. Zakharchenko survived several assassination attempts. The first attempt took place in August 2014, another one was more recently - in April. Then the saboteurs also thoroughly knew the travel routes of the head of the self-proclaimed republic and disguised the explosives as a piece of furniture.

Alexander Zakharchenko

Zakharchenko is a former Ukrainian policeman; at the time of the events that unfolded in Donetsk in early 2014, he was a member of the Oplot organization, led its Donetsk branch and owned a security company. In April, he was able to gain a foothold with his people in the center of Donetsk and became the military commandant of the city, and a month later - the Deputy Minister of Internal Affairs of the DPR.

In August, with the support of the DPR Council, he removed and dismissed Prime Minister Alexander Borodai. In the November 2014 elections, Zakharchenko ran from the Donetsk Republic social movement of Andrei Purgin and won with 78% of the vote. In February 2015, he led the movement.

He took direct part in battles with the Ukrainian military and was wounded in Debaltseve in 2015. Many former comrades and Ukrainian politicians accused Zakharchenko of racketeering and transferring business in Donetsk to his associates. In 2015-2017, several criminal cases were opened against him on charges of terrorism in Kyiv.

A few weeks before the assassination attempt, Ukrainian media began spreading reports about Zakharchenko’s imminent removal from the post of head of the DPR. Allegedly, he should have been “written off, maintaining decency,” accusing him of abuse of power. And former Minister of State Security Alexander Khodakovsky was expected to replace Zakharchenko. Zakharchenko was one of the signatories of the Minsk agreements agreed upon by the Normandy Four.

Reports that a message has appeared on the network about collecting help for Babai (Alexander Mozhaev), who is no longer being looked for by intelligence officers, and who has given birth to another son.

“I am collecting help for the family of the legendary hero of Novorossiya Babai! At the request of Sasha Babai. From the first days of the war, he went to Donbass as a volunteer... Svetlana will provide the reports to everyone, and a bank account is opened in her name. Babai is now at home, but is soon going to the front line,” this request appeared on one of the social networks.

For several months, 38-year-old Alexander Mozhaev from Belorechensk was in the Donbass, where he received the nickname Babai for his colorful appearance and long beard. Now he has returned home, but cannot find a job, so he asks for help, if not with money, then at least with clothes and food.

“Yes, my family now has a difficult financial situation. Last September I entered Donbass, and left before the New Year. We were asked to leave. They said, if you want to live, leave. So it was very dangerous to be there. They began to disperse the Cossacks, some were even kept in basements. Thank God I got through it! So we had to leave. About 15 people left with us. And I have a family, three children. I simply have nothing to support them,” Mozhaev himself said.

According to him, he recently became a dad again: his third son was born.

“We support our sons and daughter with child support, which the wife receives. She never worked. But this is a very small amount. After all, I need to get my daughter ready for school soon: notebooks, pens, a briefcase, buy clothes,” sighs Alexander Mozhaev. - We cannot spend maternity capital for our second child; our son is not yet three years old. And I'm a man, I can't do anything. I have to feed my family. They don't hire me. Who needs a criminal element?” Babai noted.

Previously, Mozhaev was convicted of distributing cannabis. He received nine years in prison, but was released after five for good behavior.

“All searches have been lifted from me. “I promised myself that I would get rid of her only when I dealt with the courts,” he said.

The notorious member of the Girkin-Strelkov detachment, known by the nickname Babai, returned to Russia after fighting in eastern Ukraine and is begging. He also doesn't shave off his beard yet, because it's his calling card. The unfortunate hero has nothing more, he has a beard, but no more money.

The militant himself spoke about this in an interview with Komsomolskaya Pravda.

Nickname Babai 38-year-old Alexander Mozhaev from Belorechensk, Krasnodar Territory: he walked in the Donbass in camouflage with St. George ribbons, often posed with a machine gun at the ready, wearing a kubanka and sunglasses. He willingly gave interviews and talked about how he would drive the “Jewish Banderaites” all the way to Lvov.

Babai was in the Donbass for several months, but from there he had to flee along with the rest of the Russian Cossacks.

Now he is at home in his native Belorechka, but he cannot get a job. So he turned through his friends with a request to help him, if not with money, at least with food and clothing.

Yes, my family now has a difficult financial situation,” Babai himself confirmed to Komsomolskaya Pravda. - Last September I entered Donbass, and left before the New Year. We were asked to leave. They said, if you want to live, leave. So it was very dangerous to be there. And I have a family, three children. I simply have nothing to support them with.

The leader of the terrorists, Igor Strelkov-Girkin, spoke about the desertion of a large group of “Cossacks,” including Alexander Mozhaev’s version. The “Cossacks” left the ranks of the militia after leaving Kramatorsk (this happened on July 5, 2014). “At first they refused to carry out the order and go to Donetsk, and then suddenly they all broke down at once and “were found: already at the very border,” - .

Babai has three children and the family lives exclusively on child benefits.

Babai was previously convicted of distributing cannabis. For this he was sentenced to nine years in prison, but after five years he was released for good behavior. The remaining four years were placed on probation.

A trial is currently underway in the second case - the beating of a person in the fall of 2013. The next meeting is in early August.

I need to resolve all legal issues now. And until I have achieved the truth, I cannot even shave off my beard. I promised myself that I would get rid of her only when I dealt with the courts.

While the colorful Cossack is wandering around the courts and looking for a job that would take him, the Mozhaevs have accumulated significant debts for gas.

The militant declares that he still intends to return to fight in Donbass, but there is no order as to when.

While the “Cossack” was in the Donbass, many scandalous and anecdotal situations were associated with him. For example, he.
