The best Norwegian singer of our time. The best Norwegian singer of our time Popular Norwegian singers and singers

Sigrid is a popular Norwegian singer. She was born on September 5 (Virgo according to the horoscope) 1996 in Norway. Real name: Sigrid Solbakk Raabe.

She was born and raised in Ålesund, surrounded by endless seas and majestic Norwegian mountains. As the singer herself said, she loved to ride a bicycle, and, of course, cannot forget that wonderful feeling when she could feel the sea breeze and enjoy the freshness of the mountain air. With a big accent and an infectious smile, she's incredibly cool and inspired by the artists she grew up with - Joni Mitchell and Neil Young, who early age guided her musical style. Sigird and her sister also had a group named after their deceased cat.

The beginning of the journey

Her debut single "Don't Kill My Vibe" is the hottest record in the world, which was written about the time when she was overcome by not very good doubts, as adolescence did not allow her to breathe, and seemingly simple problems, seemed like a real disaster. But now she understands that not everything is so sad and useless. Under no circumstances should you be discouraged; you need to go through life with your head held high, because the sun shines so brightly and warms your skin.

It can be said that it was only thanks to her brother that she was able to become a singer, since it was he who forced her to start a musical career. And all because he was also a musician and wanted her to join his world. So her brother gave her two weeks to write the song. The singer only had one week to complete this task.

Further successes

At the age of 16, she signed a contract with the Norwegian recording studio Indie Petroleum. For her, all this happened amazingly quickly, since she could never imagine such incredible success. After a short period of time, she moved to Bergen because she liked the musical atmosphere here.

She released her debut single from Island, "Don't Kill My Vibe", in 2017. The song was recorded in Norway, Australia, Scotland and the United Kingdom. Sigrid also performed at the Park Arena at Glastonbury. The Guardian even suggested that Sigrid could be a worthy festival headliner in the coming years. She was also part of the soundtrack of the video game "The Sims 4: Parenthood" with a simple version of her hit song "Don't Kill My Vibe". Sigrid performed at the Reading Festival in August 2017. She also recorded the soundtrack for the film Justice League.

Sigrid's biggest inspiration is from other musicians who try to write songs that are natural and not too complicated. She is attracted by the simplicity of writing, so in her work you can see all the brightness of life.

What you need to know about Susanne Sundfor?
I started writing music as a teenager. I signed my first contract at 19, and since then I have been releasing albums frequently. Just released the sixth one.

Ten Love Songs is an ambitious record. Do I understand correctly that it took a lot of time to build the dramaturgy, apply all the layers and place all the accents? Was the process difficult?
First of all, thank you! And yes, the process was slow: recording the album took two years, although I won’t lie, I worked intermittently. At this time I traveled a lot, so I managed to work in almost a dozen studios. I was inspired by the same travels, films, other people's music and just life.

You can hear echoes of ABBA in your music: all that melancholy reworked into upbeat pop music. Did you consciously look back at the Swedish four?
I wouldn’t say it’s more like our Scandinavian “trick”. We all grew up listening to ABBA songs, I love them very much, so they probably inspired me somehow, but more likely on a subconscious level. In general, Scandinavian music is very different. The Swedes are experts in pop music, while metal and electronica thrive in Norway. Perhaps this is how we try to fight the darkness by creating something creative and bright!

Ten Love Songs features a variety of instruments: leisurely piano, epic organ, deafening synthesizers, and menacing drums. Was it difficult to write it all down? How did you even decide where to add what?
It wasn't difficult. I just had to calculate everything, mix it and record it in different studios so that everything I wanted would sound on the album: celesta, harpsichord, violins, drums and organ. But this was the most enjoyable part of recording the album. Initially, you have all these “drafts” in your hands, you listen to them a hundred times, put them together, and compare them. And then the song finally comes to life before your eyes: here it is, ready! This is a real thrill!

The album turned out to be both dramatic and even cinematic. Should we expect spectacular concerts and music videos with unusual visuals? It seems to me that it can be turned into a musical about lovers with a difficult fate. I give you an idea!
Cool idea! I really enjoy dramatic lighting and visual effects at concerts, as long as I can afford them. In general, I will do everything as big as I can, I promise!

This record has already begun to bring you international fame (for example, we are communicating for the Russian Cosmo). What would you like to try in the future?
I've been in this industry for so long that, frankly, not much can surprise me anymore. The main thing for me is to make the kind of music that I want to make.

What kind of music attracts you as a listener?
I'm currently listening to Beck's latest album on repeat. It's so beautiful and layered, and with every listen I discover new details in it that give me goosebumps. Not an album, but a fantasy!

Are you familiar with Russian culture?
I recently read “The Master and Margarita” and really enjoyed it. I know the novel is full of cultural references that foreigners may not understand, but I still think it's a great piece of work. I love Stravinsky and Tchaikovsky. I admit, I haven’t read Dostoevsky or Tolstoy yet, but I plan to!

Bremnes became interested in music at a fairly young age; Through the efforts of her brother, Ola Bremnes, she began listening to Joni Mitchell, Frank Zappa, Donovan, Leonard Cohen, Bob Dylan, Simon and Garfunkel. Simon and Garfunkel), The Beatles, Led Zeppelin and Pink Floyd. About your own musical career Kari didn’t think about it right away; She fully matured this decision after graduating from university.

Kari received her education at the University of Oslo; According to the diploma, Bremnes is a master of linguistics, literature, history and theater studies. For some time after graduating from university, Kari studied journalism; In addition, she managed to try herself as an actor and even an employee of a psychiatric hospital. Later, Kari decided to fully devote herself to music.

Kari's first recording, "Folk i husan", was released in 1980; The same brother Ola helped Bremnes record this song. In 1980, Bremnes performed at the next Eurovision Song Contest; Unfortunately, she was unable to show a particularly impressive result. During this period, Kari still continued to work as a journalist (for "Nationen" and "Aftenposten"); She finally left the world of the press later.

Bremnes waited for a real breakthrough only in 1987; It was this year that her first solo album, "Mitt ville hjerte", was released. The album was released under the auspices of "KKV" and was received more than warmly. Together with Kari, Petter Henriksen and Erik Hillestad worked on the disc. It was the success of this record that convinced Kari that she still had a future in the world of music - and that there was not the slightest reason to scatter herself by also being a journalist. Soon the album brought Bremnes a Grammy Award, finally convincing her of the correctness of her chosen path.

In 1987, Kari Bremnes received the "Spellemannprisen" award for her composition "Mitt ville hjerte", and in 1991 another Bremnes award was awarded for the recording of "Spor". Kari won this award for the third time in 2001; this time, her brothers, Lars and Ola, took part in the recording of the award-winning song “Soloye”.

Kari's second album, "Blå krukke", was released in 1989; The songs included on it were written by Bremnes personally. To some extent, the character and style of the texts were influenced by Kari’s pregnancy. The release of the new album was taken over by Erik Hillestad.

By now, Kari Bremnes has already released quite a few albums; She performed and recorded some of them herself, while other musicians also participated in the rest. Kari worked with her brothers several times; In addition, she received assistance from Lars Klevstrand, Ole Paus and Marie Boine. Among the number of awards Kari has received, three Grammys stand out; Bremnes was nominated for a Grammy six more times, but failed to win.

Kari Bremnes' tours took place in Japan and France, Germany and Austria; In Germany, Bremnes is received especially warmly for some reason. Kari is rightfully considered one of the best Norwegian singers of our time; Her music itself embodies the spirit of Norwegian art, all its melancholy and sincerity. I wonder what appearance Kari quite contrasts with her music - from the outside, Bremnes rather resembles an opera diva; This contrast, however, gives Bremnes a special charm.

Reese Witherspoon: "Being funny is a lot of work"
Useful information about Norway More than any other, Norway is a country of contrasts. Summer here is very different from autumn, autumn from winter, and winter from spring. Norway offers a wide variety of different landscapes and contrasts.
Norway's territory is so large and its population so small that there is a unique opportunity to relax alone with nature. Far from industrial pollution and the noise of big cities, you can gain new strength surrounded by pristine nature. Wherever you are, nature is always around you. Have lunch at a city street restaurant before heading out for a bike ride through the forest or before taking a dip in the sea.
Many thousands of years ago, a huge layer of ice covered Norway. The glacier settled in lakes, at the bottom of rivers and deepened steep valleys that stretched towards the sea. The glacier advanced and retreated 5, 10, or perhaps even 20 times before finally retreating 14,000 years ago. As a reminder of itself, the glacier left deep valleys that were filled by the sea, and magnificent fjords, which many consider the soul of Norway.
The Vikings, among others, established their settlements here and used the fjords and small bays as the main routes of communication during their campaigns. Today the fjords are more famous for their spectacular scenery than for their Vikings. What makes them unique is that people still live here. These days, you can find working farms high up in the hills, clinging idyllically to the mountainside.
Fjords exist along the entire Norwegian coastline - from Oslofjord to Varangerfjord. Each of them is beautiful in its own way. Still, the world's most famous fjords are located in western Norway. Some of the largest and most powerful waterfalls are also found in this part of Norway. They form on the edges of rocks, high above your head and cascade into the emerald green water of the fjords. Equally high is the “Church Pulpit” rock (Prekestolen) - a mountain shelf rising 600 meters above Lysefjord in Rogaland.
Norway is a long and narrow country with a coastline that is as beautiful, amazing and diverse as the rest of its territory. Wherever you are, the sea is always near you. It is not surprising, therefore, that the Norwegians are such experienced and skilled sailors. For a long time, the sea was the only route connecting the coastal regions of Norway - with its coastline stretching for many thousands of kilometers.
