Margarita Pavlukhina(colored more than 10 paintings)

In my opinion, the most optimal company for beginners is Schipper. Good cardboard (the outline and numbers are printed clearly), a brush, and the paints go on smoothly, the numbers are painted over without problems (only with light colors you have to apply 2 layers), after work there is usually a fair amount of paint left in the jar, no mixing, a decent result.

If we talk about works on canvas, I liked Hobbart - the paints are quite thick, they easily fall on the canvas and paint over the numbers and outline. The result is the same as in the picture on the box. The same can be said about Menglei.

From Shipper the following may be suitable for beginners: (all the fragments are quite large. The work turns out bright and juicy), (there are a little more small fragments, but no difficulties arise, and they go well with Macs) and (small fragments are only a book and glasses).

I also highly recommend buying an easel - the simplest, student one. When the painting stands rather than lies on the table, the work is better illuminated and you can see where the numbers or outline have not been painted over. When working with canvas, it is simply irreplaceable. In addition, when working at a table, my neck often hurt, and with an easel you can paint both sitting and standing, and there is less risk of getting into undried paint.

Ksenia Uss(colored more than 10 paintings)

Try to choose a coloring that matches color scheme, which you like.

Regarding the coloring technique, it is most convenient for me to paint the picture in a row, from top to bottom and from left to right. I do not paint at an easel, but usually sitting, and sometimes sitting on the sofa. Therefore, this technique is most convenient for me, in the sense that you can freely place your hands on the unpainted area, without fear of ruining already painted areas or getting your hands and clothes dirty. I don’t like to paint for a long time with one color, so I paint everything at once in small sections according to the named algorithm (top-to-bottom and left-to-right).

When it comes to using paints, I recommend getting a stirring stick in advance ( Chinese chopstick, any stick). I also always have a pack of wet wipes on hand (which are not very wet, such large packages of all sorts of baby wipes), it’s convenient to wipe the brush with them after each paint.

As for advice on specific sets, I recommend quadruple sets of shipper (butterflies, cupcakes, coffee) - they are bright, they are all small, you can safely start with them. The zones there are not particularly small. Good luck!

Vera Galina

I would suggest starting with small and simple coloring on cardboard without mixing paint into relatively large areas. Small Ravenburger coloring books work well for testing. I have never come across dry paint from this company and the numbers are always painted over, although not always the first time.

Evgenia Tsarevich

I don’t even know if it’s worth advising beginners what better picture try to draw or just take the first one you like and decide for yourself whether it’s difficult or not.

My nephew is 12 years old, I bought him a Hobbart company “Stained glass window “World of Music” on canvas to try out. You can see from the picture that there are a lot of large areas, so he said it would be more interesting if there were more small areas. Here is a child’s opinion, if it’s easy for children, then adults can handle it too)))

I painted everyone's favorite brand Schipper on cardboard: Cupcakes - that's what I can recommend for beginners, easy, quick and appetizing))).

Ekaterina Drokova

I drew and still draw only Schipper. I am very pleased with this company. The first work was "Peonies in a Vase". Also next up for Dimensions is “Bouquet of Peonies”. I would advise beginners to start with Schipper.

As for coloring tricks, I personally paint from the left corner to the right, going lower and returning to the left side again. I just know that some people paint first with one color and then with another, but I’m not so interested.

Evgenia Yarygina(about 10 paintings painted)

It seems to me that a beginner should initially understand whether he will like it or not, so I would recommend a simple picture. Coloring will irritate some, while others will find it calming. I realized that I really liked it, and in my nervous work It calmed me down incredibly in the evenings.

It seems to me that a beginner should:
- start drawing with simple pictures in order to “get better”
- don’t be afraid that he will paint something with the wrong color, I’ll be honest, it’s often not noticeable
- don’t worry if, as it often seems, the colors are about to run out. In my experience, there was always enough paint.
- try coloring both on canvas and on cardboard. I liked working on canvas more, as it seems to me that it’s drawn differently and doesn’t feel like it’s some kind of children’s coloring book.
- understand that Chinese quality, for me personally, is not always inferior to German. I personally often buy Color Kit and Menglei on canvas and am very happy

You can, of course, paint as you want, but personally, my experience from about the 5th picture showed that it is necessary to finish the picture with white paint, and I start with the 2nd, that is, the lightest paint other than white, and move forward, and until I paint over, as it seems to me, all the divisions with the 2nd color, I don’t move on to the third color. When I see on the third color that I haven’t painted over the second color, then I go back and paint over the second color, and do it immediately, since the first is difficult to find the unpainted element later, and secondly, going back at the end and painting over all the missing elements is too much dreary work.

Elena Reminova(more than 20 paintings painted)

Regarding the choice of picture, it’s clear that the finer the details of the picture, the more the process is more interesting and the result. Apart from accuracy and perseverance, no other talents or efforts are required. I really liked Schipper at work. But I prefer paintings on canvas. They seem more expensive and professional; they can be hung on the wall even without frames (which is very economical and simple, without any framing workshops). On canvases that I plan to hang on the wall, I either continue the drawing on the sides or, more often than not, I simply paint the sides in a suitable tone.

To rinse the brush thoroughly, I place a dishwashing sponge at the bottom of the glass. The brush is washed very thoroughly. By the way, I buy brushes separately. I always varnish finished works. I don’t really like gloss, it glares and the effect of painting is lost. I really like matte or semi-matte varnish. The most important thing is to apply several very thin layers.

Marina Marinelli

Because I really love painstaking tasks, I immediately decided to use the coloring book with mixing Dimensions “Garden on the Coast” and had tremendous pleasure. I liked the colors, they applied perfectly, according to my observations they always fit well on cardboard.

Of course, I love Shipper very much!!! The quality of the cardboard and the quality of the paints, not only in brightness, but also in consistency, are beyond praise.

I discovered one way for myself so that the numbers do not show through, especially under light colors - you can first cover them with a stroke (corrector). And I can also advise you not to be afraid of paintings with many small details, just buy a good magnifying glass (as I did right away).

In paintings where there is water, waves or sea foam, White color It’s better to leave it for the finale, this way you can make the borders smoother (by shading) and the waves will look more voluminous.

I definitely cover paintings on cardboard with Satin varnish. It gives a beautiful silky effect.

It’s difficult to say unequivocally that canvas or cardboard is preferable... whoever likes what. The paints are applied to the canvas differently, I would say, with thicker strokes, which is a little reminiscent of an oil painting.

I prefer matte varnish for paintings on canvas; it gives a pleasant finish without excessive shine.

As for recommendations for subjects, you can start with flowers, landscapes, animals (whoever likes them), but not with people. As a rule, if the painting is on canvas, then you also need to learn how to make smooth transitions between shades, this applies to open areas of the body.

Of course, I initially started painting paintings by the best manufacturers, so it is difficult to evaluate all the diversity of manufacturers. As for the brushes, the Schipper and Dimensions sets had high-quality brushes that are still alive and I use them. The Chinese have brushes that last only 1 painting))), so I bought more in art stores.

Lyudmila Dolgopolova(5 paintings painted)

The first criterion for me when choosing a coloring book was the plot of the picture! I would recommend the Schipper “Daisies” coloring book for beginners. Its main attraction is its size. It is smaller than the standard paintings of this company, the dimensions of the parts are also not very small, and the resulting painting turns out to be very beautiful, and the flowers look very natural. The painting "Daisies" is one of a series of similar paintings of the same size depicting flowers: "Poppy", "Rose" and "Sunflower" - all of which can be suitable for beginners. Another very important assistant when choosing the first picture is, of course, reviews.

I color, moving gradually through the picture - always starting from the upper left corner - this makes it possible not to touch the already painted areas. I pay attention to the fragments themselves - first I try to color what is in the background of the picture, and only then I move to the foreground. For me, this is more convenient than looking for all the fragments with one number throughout the entire picture, although I know that many people, on the contrary, find it inconvenient to change colors all the time... But, it seems to me, in my version, each time the picture seems to be filled, and already You can see some separate fragments.

As for the brushes, the Shipper sets come with a medium-sized brush for the paintings; I’ve always been pleased with the quality; the brushes are enough for more than just one painting. When purchasing a new set, I continue to paint with the brush from the previous one, and leave the new one in reserve))) I use thinner brushes extremely rarely, more often where finer lines are needed.

The eternal dilemma “WHAT IS BETTER – CANVAS OR CARDBOARD?” For beginners, I can say with confidence - start with cardboard! Everything is simpler and clearer on it))). For those who have made their choice on canvas, the first thing I can say is: be prepared for the fact that you will often have to look at the control sheet, because... on canvas it is much worse than on cardboard, numbers are visible (especially in small details), and secondly, the paints need to be “hammered” into the canvas, and not smoothly smeared, as on cardboard.

Margarita Terentyeva

How to draw is already from the series “taste and color...”. For example, I don't like moving from top to bottom or left to right. I start with bright colors and paint everything with one color, then everything with another. Apparently, this is my thing - to bring everything to the end.

And probably the most important advice: DO NOT TAKE PICTURES OF UNKNOWN COMPANIES. Verified on personal experience. I have several of these unfinished paintings in my back drawer. There is no desire to draw them; they do not bring pleasure.

But on what and in what position is it more convenient to draw, then my answer is ON THE KNEES)))))). I climb onto the bed, put pillows under my back and lean against the wall. She bent her knees and placed the painting half-standing on them))) Beauty, how convenient! And the neck doesn’t get tired, and the back doesn’t bend))

Alexandra Mikhailova

I start painting with large areas. I try to paint with one color, then another. I change it when I get tired of it. It is most difficult to paint with light tones, because... The numbers are poorly painted over (although in Plaid with a train, white fits perfectly in ONE layer, I’m shocked). Well, I choose the color depending on my mood)))

Basically, when painting by numbers, acrylic paints are used. They are very popular in the art community because of their versatility. Suitable for beginners and professionals alike, ideal for learning a new technique or expanding your creativity. Their texture is very similar to oil paints. A good result requires little patience or accuracy; the manufacturer also plays a big role. The quality of the paint is important outline drawings should be, on the one hand, clear and easy to read, on the other hand, invisible under a layer of paint. Special paper or canvas on which the paint will (or will not) adhere well.

1. Acrylic is a quick-drying paint. If you are not going to draw now, do not open the cans. Their original packaging allows them to be stored for an almost unlimited period of time, but after opening their service life is significantly reduced. If you have never tried this type of creativity, buy a small painting, since first you will need some time to develop the skill of drawing by numbers.

2. If the paints have thickened a little during the painting process, you can add a few drops of water; this does not affect their properties. But if they are completely dry, it is impossible to restore them!

3. Paints are stored for a minimum of 12 weeks after opening, subject to certain rules.

Be sure to close the jars tightly and correctly, cleaning the edges of dried paint (this may prevent the lid from sealing tightly)

Use a toothpick to clean hard-to-reach places

In case of long breaks in coloring, wrap thoroughly cleaned and tightly closed jars in a damp cloth and pack them in plastic bag or an airtight plastic container. This will protect them from drying out.

During prolonged painting, the paints may become thicker. Don't be afraid to add a drop of water and mix thoroughly

4. Before you start coloring, prepare a jar of water (to wash your brushes), several rags (to wipe your brushes, hands, table, etc.), toothpicks - stir the paints and use them to paint the smallest details. A saucer, plate or palette - for mixing paints.

5. The sets, depending on the manufacturer, the size and complexity of the painting, include from one to 5 brushes. We recommend purchasing additional brushes in different sizes in advance. They are inexpensive, sold in any office supply department, but will greatly help you when coloring. And, most importantly, you will be able to separate the brushes - some to use only for light colors, some - only for dark ones, which will completely eliminate the mixing of paints when carelessly washing the brush. 6. If you often paint by numbers, we recommend purchasing a set of acrylic paints (base colors) in art stores, which will allow you to eliminate the problem of paint drying (of course, choosing a shade will take some time) and enhance the relief of the work. However, the paint sets contain enough paint for complete painting in 2-3 layers.

6. Open jars carefully, following the manufacturer's instructions to avoid damaging them.

7. Hold the brush the way you would hold your hand. Don't bend your hand to make drawing easier - rotate the picture!

8. Apply paint only to the very tip of the brush. It’s better to dip the brush into the jar twice than to ruin the design by dripping on it. If, however, this happens, use damp cotton swabs to remove excess.

9. Color the picture in one of two ways - linearly, from top to bottom, to prevent smearing by hand, or from top to bottom, but first the background, then the foreground.

10. Start coloring with light colors, then darker ones, color the mixed parts last.

11. If, after finishing painting, numbers are visible somewhere, apply a second layer of paint to these segments. To give relief and a resemblance to oil, apply several layers to some elements.

12. After drying, the painting can be coated with glossy or matte varnish; this will “strengthen” it and allow it to be wiped with a slightly damp cloth. In the first case it will become brighter, in the second it will not glare. A frame will add completeness to your work.

Canvas or cardboard??

This is not to say that canvas is better. Or, better yet, cardboard. Let's talk about the advantages and disadvantages of both. Cardboard– it’s easier to draw on it; if this is your first painting, choose cardboard. Paints adhere better, paintings on cardboard are cheaper. But, if this picture hangs in a house with temperature changes (for example, at a dacha, where you only visit in the summer, but New Year) – the cardboard may begin to deform. True, if you put it in a frame, this will not happen. Canvas on stretcher– not afraid of humidity, looks more “real”, can be hung on the wall without a frame, it will look great. But. It’s harder to paint, it’s better to do it in a vertical position of the canvas (use an easel or build a stand from scrap materials, such as books), the paint goes on harder. If you decide to use a frame, you will have to order it from a framing shop due to its thickness. Higher cost.

How do paintings from different manufacturers differ?

We sell paintings by numbers only from the best manufacturers, but they also differ very significantly. Let's talk briefly about each.

Schipper– Germany, premium class paintings. The kits do not require mixing paints. Material – cardboard, top layer – special paper, similar in texture to canvas. Bright colors, large selection of painting reproductions famous artists. There is a large selection of sizes, including 50*80, there are triptychs that look very impressive. High price, which is fully justified by its unsurpassed quality. “Solid” packaging, such a picture is an excellent gift (and if you take a large one, the gift will be simply magnificent). According to many - best coloring pages by numbers.

Menglei– the largest manufacturer in Asia, paintings of the highest quality. The paints do not require mixing. Material: canvas on a stretcher (self-assembly required). Drawing- one of the most important ways for a child to learn about the world around him, and its importance for the development of a child cannot be overestimated. This is a way of self-expression and manifestation of one’s creativity. Drawing develops thinking, memory, visual perception, observation.

One of the simplest and first artistic techniques is working with . In the process of coloring simple drawings the smallest artists learn perseverance, accuracy, get acquainted with the variety of colors and shades, develop fine motor skills and, accordingly, speech.

Older creative types should be offered more complex coloring books - paintings by numbers. These are contour drawings applied to canvas and divided into segments indicated by numbers. In the process of painting the segments with paints of the desired colors and shades, a picture is obtained that is practically indistinguishable from classical painting.

How to work with paintings (coloring) by numbers?

Kit for drawing a picture by numbers comprises:

- the painting itself,

- several nylon fiber brushes,

- palette of colors.

The kit may also include fastenings for placing the future masterpiece on a vertical surface and instructions.

The painting is usually painted on canvas already stretched on a stretcher. Sometimes manufacturers apply paintings onto primed cardboard. These pictures are suitable for children younger age who are just learning this type work.

The number of brushes in a set depends on the complexity of the design; most often there are 3-4 of them, of different thicknesses.

Should be paid Special attention when choosing a painting by numbers for a child to paint. High-quality drawing kits are equipped with special environmentally friendly and safe acrylic paints without smell. Each shade is placed in a separate jar and numbered. The numbers on the segments of the picture correspond to the shade numbers.

The technique for doing the job is very simple: it is necessary to apply paints of certain numbers with a brush of suitable thickness to the segments marked with the same number as the selected paint color.

Acrylic paints do not need to be diluted with water (only if it is necessary to achieve the desired viscosity), they dry quickly and make it possible to achieve a rich and bright color when applied in several layers.

In the process of coloring a picture by numbers you may need:

pure water(if the paints are too thick)

- a piece of cloth to wipe your hands,

- matches or toothpicks for stirring paints.

These items should be prepared in advance.

After finishing the work, you should tightly close all containers with paint and rinse the brushes thoroughly, since the acrylic that has dried on them will no longer dissolve in water and the brush will be damaged.

How to choose a painting by numbers according to the child’s age?

Paintings by numbers for different age groups differ in their sizes, themes of the drawings, the size of the segments and the number of colors and shades (level of complexity).

For the little ones Canvases measuring 10*15 or 20*30 cm are suitable, with a minimum set of bright colors and not big amount large segments, with various funny stories, characters from fairy tales and cartoons. Such paintings are suitable for children aged 3-4 years.

Children aged 7-12 years You can offer canvases 30*30 cm. The level of complexity of these paintings is slightly higher, they already have a more diverse palette and a smaller size of segments.

For children over 12 years old and adults paintings with sizes from 30*40 to 60*80 cm, as well as diptychs and triptychs are suitable. The paintings represent complex plots, with a large number of very small segments and a wide palette of colors and shades.

Although coloring by numbers was originally a form of entertainment for children, this type of creativity has quickly become popular among adults. After all, even a person who does not know how to draw can create a real work of art using a template of such a painting. For mothers of little fidgets, painting by numbers is an opportunity to take a little break from everyday life, plunging into the world of beauty and creativity.

Subjects of paintings by numbers

Modern paintings by numbers are represented by a huge selection of drawings on a wide variety of themes and subjects. For children there are paintings depicting their favorite characters and fairy tale characters, scenes from cartoons, cute and kind animals, as well as simple, unencumbered images of various objects, toys, plants and flowers.

Paintings by numbers for adult lovers of this type of creativity have an even more extensive theme.

Like art in general, these paintings are divided into genres, the most popular of which are:

— landscapes (sea, city, seasons);

— still lifes (images of flowers, fruits or vegetables, cutlery, utensils and other things);

— portraits;

- animalistic - images of animals.

In addition, paintings by numbers depicting copies of paintings by famous artists, works of art, wonders of the world and simply world-famous places on the planet, copies of works by popular photographers are in great demand.

Using paint by number kits and sticking to simple recommendations, every person, child or adult, can create a work of art with their own hands and feel like a creator of beauty, without being a professional artist.

“Anyone can become an artist!” - today this motto is more relevant than ever. Yes, don’t be surprised, nowadays anyone can feel like the inventive Leonardo da Vinci or the expressive Van Gogh. After all, in the past, in order to paint your own canvas, you had to study for years art school or, at a minimum, complete expensive drawing courses. And everyone, regardless of gender and age, can create their own still life, portrait or landscape in just 3-5 days - just like a true master, exhibiting in famous galleries.

What is the reason for this phenomenon? In paintings by numbers, which are gaining more and more popularity in the 21st century. After all, they allow you to reveal creative potential to everyone who craves it, even without sufficient experience or free time.

We draw according to the “all inclusive” principle

What’s especially nice is that any set for home painting already includes everything you need: numbered jars of paints, one or more brushes, instructions, a check sheet for checking shades, divided into sectors and marked with numbers on cardboard or canvas with a stretcher, varnish mixture and wall fastenings for the finished painting. You can start creating right away! But first, you should choose the desired basis for the picture and get acquainted with life hacks for coloring.

Cardboard vs canvas

Experienced paint-by-numbers believe that it is worth starting with cardboard. After all, this material is very cheap, but at the same time it is able to absorb excess paint applied to it, which is important for beginning artists. But cardboard does not give the paintings the texture and “realness” that canvas gives: slightly rough to the touch, already primed and stretched on a real stretcher. The canvas, in turn, is available with a monochrome numbered outline or a colored one. The latter type of canvas is suitable even for elderly and visually impaired people, as well as children, because... coloring becomes intuitive. It’s better to start with small formats and clear subjects: animals, fish, birds, landscapes, nature or flowers. But you should move on to drawing people, angels, icons or complex architectural structures after mastering the basic techniques of number painting.

With or without rules?

Of course, contemporary art has long ceased to have clear do’s and don’ts, and the rules of modern art exist solely to be broken. But for this you need to know them at least a little, and therefore, before you start unpacking the treasured box with canvas and paints, it is worth studying online encyclopedias in order to learn or refresh your memory of the concepts of light and shadow, line and shading, perspective and plane, front and background, color separation and contrast...

And if you are still a beginner and do not have experience in creating paintings by numbers, then it is better to strictly follow the instructions that are in each set. And when you master the basic techniques of this type of painting, you can already develop a wealth of your own techniques and tricks. Moreover, there are not so many basic techniques that significantly facilitate drawing.

"Magnificent Four" methods of coloring pictures by numbers

There are 4 principles for painting a canvas. You will remember them without difficulty, because they are unusually logical and functional; they are already suggested to anyone who draws by common sense and convenience.

From light to dark

By painting over white, yellow, blue or pink areas at the very beginning, you will avoid accidental marks. After all, it is much easier to erase or cover up a pastel shade with another color than a bright or dark color.

If you color all the large details of the picture at the very beginning, then you will not only avoid the blunders and blots mentioned above, but you will also be able to correctly arrange the nuances and draw small details, put the right strokes and highlights. This way it will be easier to compare the “small things” with the main semantic spots of the picture: you must admit, by painting over the vase and the three largest buds in it, it will be easier for you to place medium-sized flowers and leaves of the bouquet next to each other.

Moving in this direction, you will definitely not smear the design already applied on the edge with your shirt sleeve or elbow. As a rule, it is in the middle of the picture that classical artists place main image, be it a hut in a pastoral landscape or a bowl of fruit in a delicious still life.

How to hold a brush and make strokes?

The brush is easiest and most comfortable to hold in the same way as you hold a ballpoint pen. Your hand should have support. This is enough so that you do not get tired, and the picture turns out neat. To begin with, you should master the usual strokes: just try to paint over each numbered fragment as evenly as possible, making smooth movements with the brush from left to right (if you are right-handed), applying paint in an equal layer of thickness, without going beyond the outline.

Once you get the hang of it, you can experiment with layer thickness, shading, and even dot painting if that calls for it. artistic design. For example, if you need to draw a heavy rain cloud saturated with water. After all, its lower part is rough and dark, which is well conveyed by small ripples of dots, and threads of rain descend below, which are easiest to imitate with short oblique strokes.

Bright mix: how to mix paints correctly?

As a rule, the paints in a set are already mixed, which is why there are so many numbers in it, because each of them means a certain shade, which sometimes differs only by a fraction of a tone from the previous one. If during the painting process you run out of the desired color, you can easily mix it yourself from existing paints. Usually, light tones run out first, because there are usually more light spots in a picture than dark ones, and therefore you just need to slightly dilute with white the tone that is closest in shade to what you need. It is best to do this on a palette or a sheet of cardboard, and not directly in a jar, so as not to accidentally spoil the entire mass of paint.

Effective and impressive: blurring the boundaries

This is amazing, but with just two techniques - creating clear or blurred boundaries - you can give the picture depth, expressiveness, and professional look. To understand in which area you should make the clearest possible outline, and where you should slightly blur the edges, just carefully examine these places on the sample reproduction.

This is shine: 3 unique types of varnish

When the painting is ready, you will probably want to give it a gloss and protect it from dust, cracking and fading by covering it with a transparent protective base.

Matte Acrylic varnish is good because it dries unusually quickly and also gives the paints additional brightness. Literally a couple of 6-8 hours after covering the painting, you will be able to proudly hang it on the wall and invite your family and friends to your own vernissage.

Gloss, as the name implies, gives the image a special shine and smoothness. This is a plus if you want to smooth out some roughness, but a minus if you want to emphasize volume. The aforementioned matte finish does a better job of imparting texture.

Craquelure truly magical: it allows you to nobly age completely in moments new picture, covering the surface with a network of intricate cobweb cracks, turning a newly created portrait or landscape into an elegant antique.

Auxiliary materials

Before starting work, you should cover the table with newspaper or film, install bright, but not glaring lighting, and also stock up on toothpicks and cotton swabs. The former will help you draw even the thinnest lines, while the latter will be useful for promptly removing excess paint or correcting a bad stroke. You may also need an additional set of brushes best quality and different diameters, a palette and even an easel if you are going to paint outdoors or in the country.

Don't forget to place a sippy cup of water and disposable napkins on the table. But don’t rush to open all the cans of paint right away: acrylic thickens quickly, so open them step by step, number by number.

Frame for a man-made masterpiece: choosing the ideal frame

Acrylic perfectly imitates classic oil paint, and therefore it is worthwhile to arrange the finished picture with dignity. A textured, slightly recessed and gilded or silver-plated frame in the Baroque style: with fine ligature, vignettes or vines will suit almost any subject. After all, then the image will acquire the proper volume and become a worthy decoration for your home art gallery!

This is much more interesting than just buying a poster from IKEA! If you agree with us, we offer you a selection of the best techniques and master classes for creating your own painting.

Gold and concrete

The most favorite color of everyone who undertakes to make a stylish painting with their own hands is gold. You just need to add a little leaf foil or just paint to any background, even a plain one. Gold looks good and not too provocative with an uneven gray concrete color.

Sound waves

Horizontal jagged lines always resemble some kind of graphs or visualization of sound waves, in general, something important, and therefore it is interesting to look at them. To dilute the boring monochrome of the image, you can, like the author of this master class, add a little (or a lot!) of gold.

Geology

Have you noticed how beautiful the cuts of stones are? This is a drawing with a story, a story about changes in climate, relief, and wildlife. You can create your own beautiful specimen of the rock: simply take a vertical canvas and apply horizontal stripes of different widths and different colors to it. Invite the children to draw with you - let them come up with the story of a fictional world in which such a beautiful cut could appear.

Peas

Polka dots are a magical pattern: you can paint them on anything and it will turn out beautiful. You don't even need to have a brush on hand - just make a stamp from a wine cork or the bottom of a glass. If you use thicker paint (as in this case), the pattern of the prints will resemble a coral pattern!

Colored peas

If you want something more complex, then make a print with a colored pattern. In this master class, in order for the peas to be even, they are cut out with a special hole punch and then pasted onto canvas.

Blot

One way to create an abstract painting is to step back from the work as much as possible and let the paint do everything for you. For example, pour a large blot and then tilt the canvas so that the paint flows picturesquely down it. You can make such a picture together with your child; you don’t even need a brush for this.

Stencil

Tested: any abstract spots look cooler if their edges are very smooth. This contrast effect can be achieved by painting through a stencil, or pre-reserving part of the canvas using masking tape, or applying white borders using a stencil later, as in this master class.

Scribble

Make squiggles of any color on any color canvas, inspired by famous works, or relying only on your own inspiration - there are no boundaries or laws here, doodle art is a very democratic direction! You can, like blogger Michelle, create many layers, achieving a complex texture, or you can paint with pure color on white. The main thing is to relax your hand and not forget that this is pampering, and a bad option can always be painted over.

Color samples

Paintings with careless horizontal lines look as if they are a sample of colors from the desk of a Pantone Institute employee or a fashionable makeup artist’s palette. The secret to success here, as blogger Julia demonstrates, is to leave enough white space and apply the paint in one motion. Colors can be any.

Ombre

Gradient, or ombre, is a very simple and very beautiful effect. To repeat it, you don’t even need a master class. Two paints - main and white, a brush or roller, five minutes of time spent, and the picture is ready. An excellent solution if your bright apartment has a bright accessory that requires color support.

Vanguard

There is nothing easier than making a print in an avant-garde style. Draw straight lines with tape, like in this tutorial, and use bright paint straight from the can. My only advice is to take the time to make a few sketches in advance.

Stamps

The most budget-friendly paintings do not even require the purchase of brushes: just take the first object that comes to hand and use it as a stamp. You will be surprised what stylish thing you can draw using an ordinary glass!

Impressionism

And the last painting idea for today is an impressionist canvas painted with large strokes. Artist Ashley Sturgill shows how to create a vibrant painting with gold accents.

Get inspired and experiment, and we will help you with this!
