Open air music festivals. Summer classical music festivals. Moscow region: Baroque music festival

From September 1 to 10, as part of the City Day celebrations, the capital will host the Moscow Anniversary festival, dedicated to the outstanding contribution of our city and its residents to Russian and world heritage.

On September 9 and 10, 2017, the Russian capital will celebrate its 870th anniversary. The Moscow Anniversary festival will be held on the eve of the anniversary at 40 venues in the center and in all city districts.

The slogan of the event will be “Moscow is the city where history is made.” Guests of the festival will be told about those people, those events, those innovations, those cultural and sporting achievements that are known all over the world, but appeared in Moscow.

There will be seven main themes in total: “Moscow conquers”, “Moscow creates”, “Moscow builds”, “Moscow sets records”, “Moscow invents”, “Moscow opens” and “Our victories”. Here they will talk about the achievements of the capital's engineers and inventors, about theater figures, composers, about world-famous city buildings, about scientists and inventors, about significant military campaigns - from the founding Russian state before the Victory in the Great Patriotic War.

The concept of the celebration was based on the Russian avant-garde. The unified corporate style for the celebration of the 870th anniversary of Moscow was created on the basis of a series of original textile patterns developed by Soviet artists Varvara Stepanova and Lyubov Popova in 1923–24.
