Suddenly, an Easter egg burst under the icons. An Easter egg exploded, what is it for?

The superstition that says you can’t whistle indoors, otherwise you won’t have money, has a completely different origin. In ancient centuries, people associated whistling with a strong wind, but did not yet know where it came from, so they considered it evil spirit, damaging the crop.

Folk signs about eggs

An egg is a very tasty and healthy product; it is also used in some rituals. In addition, the birds that live around us also lay eggs. This is probably why they are so interesting folk signs about eggs - they can tell a lot of interesting things.

Signs about Easter eggs

Signs with colored eggs are very diverse. Some say that they contain very great power that can heal, remove damage and ward off the evil eye. To get rid of all ailments, you need to “roll out” them with a testicle - roll it over the part of the body where there is pain, or in the center of the forehead, from the forehead to the temples and down the bridge of the nose. For especially severe cases, one consecrated colored egg was left and kept behind the icon until the next year. If during this time someone in the family became seriously ill, the disease was “rolled out” with an egg, and then with prayer they buried it at the grave of a person with the same name as the patient.

In Europe

Omens about Easter eggs developed not only in Rus', but also in other countries.

  • So, in Germany it was believed that if a pregnant woman eats them, she will certainly give birth to a boy.
  • In Great Britain there was a tradition of taking the painted shells that were left over after Easter into the field and putting them in the furrows along with the grains - then a rich harvest could be expected.
  • In Poland, girls put red eggs in a basin at night, and in the morning they washed themselves with water from this basin in order to preserve their beauty for a long time - at least until next year, when the ritual had to be repeated.

Universal

There are universal beliefs for different countries. For example, signs with eggs at Easter strictly prohibit throwing away the shells. Even if Easter eggs have spoiled, the sign says to bury them, like painted shells, in the ground. To remember a deceased relative, colored eggs are taken to the cemetery and crushed there for the birds.

The custom of knocking eggs against each other is widely known. Cracked Easter Egg- signs promise health problems to the person to whom this happened. Anyone whose testicle will remain undefeated for a long time need not worry - he will be successful in all matters.

Signs about egg yolks

2 yolks

Perhaps the most common sign is two yolks in one egg. This phenomenon does not happen very often. It is believed that a person who receives such an unusual product will experience unexpected success. For a young girl, a double yolk in an egg promises that she will soon find her soulmate. For a married woman - an early pregnancy, possibly with twins.

3 yolks

Three yolks in an egg is a rarer sign, as is the phenomenon itself. However, like the birth of triplets in people. A chicken cannot hatch from such an egg. And even if he can, the anomalies will be incompatible with life. However, for someone who comes across such a rich product, there is nothing bad about it - luck will come to him in triple size.

Without yolk

But an egg without a yolk is a less positive omen. Such anomalies occur if we're talking about about older chickens. For a person, such a product promises quick disappointment in a business that he considered problem-free and win-win.

Birds and eggs

You go out onto the balcony, and pigeons have laid eggs there - this is a very good omen. There will be an addition to your family soon. It doesn't have to be the birth of a child. Perhaps one of the already grown-up children will bring a bride or groom, or announce the imminent birth of a grandson.

But what to do with pigeon eggs? It is strongly advised not to throw them away. But if proximity to birds in such close proximity is not part of your plans, try to carefully move the nest without damaging its contents. Maybe it will be possible to place it under the roof of the balcony or in some niche nearby.

Finding a thrush egg is a rarer occurrence. This is possible if you go to a dacha outside the city, where there is a forest nearby. Sometimes, due to natural disasters or human fault, thrush nests end up on the ground. Signs suggest that such a find is good luck.

Other signs about eggs

There are signs about rotten eggs, about when to place chickens on a nest, and even about why eggs explode.

  • A man should not remove the contents from chicken nests - the chickens will lay eggs worse after this.
  • An egg fell - a sign warns of possible unexpected difficulties. Cancel important trips and visits, spend the day with your family to avoid unnecessary grief and disappointment.
  • You can’t smash eggs on the table - this will scare away good luck in business for a long time.
  • A chicken laid a small egg - the sign promises the one who finds it empty troubles that will not be worth the effort spent on them.
  • An egg with blood signs is called a harbinger of an imminent illness. Do not eat it if you want to neutralize the omen.
  • A boiled egg is rotten - damage has been caused to the house. Take a spoiled egg, take it outside and crumble it under the nearest bush. The ants will steal the egg crumbs, taking with them the evil eye and damage.

Now the stars advise you to use one of the layouts suggested below. Don't miss your chance to find out the truth.

There were many signs associated with the Easter egg. It was impossible, for example, to eat an egg and throw (let alone spit out) the shell out the window onto the street. The peasants believed that throughout the entire Bright Week, Christ himself with the apostles in beggar's rags walked the earth, and if you were careless, you could hit him with a shell.

With the help of an Easter egg, the living also receive relief from all diseases and misfortunes. If the egg received at the time of Christhood from the priest is kept in the shrine for three or even twelve years, then as soon as such an egg is given to the seriously ill to eat, all the illness will be removed from them as if by hand.

An Easter egg can cure any disease. Indeed, the Easter egg is believed to have incredible powers.

On Easter Day, the hostess must leave the blessed egg and place it behind the icon. God forbid that the opportunity to use it does not arise. But if someone gets very seriously ill, then they took out this egg and special prayers they rolled it over the sore spot. After this, it was necessary to bury the egg on the grave of a person who, during his lifetime, bore the same name as the patient.

There was also a belief that with the help of an Easter egg, the souls of the dead could find relief in the next world. To do this, you just need to go to the cemetery, christen the deceased three times, then break the egg, crumble it and feed it to the “free” bird, which, in gratitude for this, will remember the dead and ask God for them.

But most of all, the Easter egg helps in agricultural work: all you have to do is bury it in the grains during the Easter prayer service, and then go with the same egg and grain to sow, and a wonderful harvest is guaranteed.

The peasants also believed that the egg also helped in extinguishing fires: if a righteous person took such an egg and ran around the burning building three times with the words “Christ is Risen,” the fire would immediately subside and then stop on its own. But if the egg falls into the hands of a person of questionable lifestyle, the fire will not stop.

Then there is only one remedy: throw the egg in the direction opposite to the direction of the wind and free from buildings. It was believed that then the wind would subside, change direction, and the power of the fire would weaken.

There is an old tradition. When people come home after church service, then each family member takes a consecrated colored egg, and everyone knocks the eggs. Whoever's egg remains intact will be the one whole year the healthiest.

Finally, the egg helps even treasure hunters. After all, every treasure, as you know, is guarded by a special guard assigned to it. evil spirits, and when they see a person approaching with an Easter egg, the devils will certainly get scared and scatter, leaving the treasure without any protection or cover. Then all that remains is to take a shovel and calmly dig out the cauldrons of gold.

There are also signs for Easter that are related to the weather. For example, it is believed that if there is a cloudy or snowy night on Easter, it means that the year will be fruitful, but the milk yield will be very poor. And vice versa, if it is clear, then expect a crop failure, but the chickens will lay eggs just perfectly. And if the sun is dim at sunrise, then this is not just a crop failure, but also a swine pestilence.

According to Orthodox traditions, it is permissible to store the remaining eggs after Easter until next Christ's Day. But what about the consecrated attributes if it is no longer possible to leave them or eat them? The lives of the saints tell that the ascetics began the Easter meal by eating an egg, consecrated for the past Resurrection of Christ. For ordinary lay people who have not reached such spiritual heights, following similar examples It can be dangerous, and it’s not necessary in principle.

But sometimes after the holiday there are quite a lot of eggs left, even if they were prepared in reasonable quantities for the family break of fast: relatives and friends, wishing to share the joy of the Bright Resurrection, brought their Easter treats, including elegant painted eggs, blessed in the church. What can be done with excess consecrated food? Where should I put them? Do I need to store them? What do church canons recommend in such cases?

Easter eggs are believed to have almost miraculous properties.

Properties of dyes and Easter eggs What happens, according to popular belief
Condition and safety of the blessed eggs. In a house where grace is present, consecrated paints can lie near the images for many months and not deteriorate: their contents simply dry out, without emitting the characteristic smell of hydrogen sulfide. When exposed to negativity, bad intentions directed against family well-being, the egg inside turns black, becomes moldy, and spoils.
A powerful amulet for the family hearth. This blessed Easter attribute protects the house from fire.
Beneficial influence on the inhabitants of the house. An egg can remove spoilage, relieve headaches, aching joints, and fatigue. Its crushed shell also helps the sick to heal.

According to various beliefs, this consecrated Easter attribute has great strength. In any case, whether or not the attributed properties are considered superstitions, an egg prepared for the celebration of Easter is sacred symbol, or, as the clergy usually say, a real material shrine.

In relation to objects of this kind, regardless of whether they have deteriorated or not, the question is raised of where to put their excess: you need to act according to accepted rules.

What to do with Easter attribute after the holiday

Regarding what to do with Easter eggs from last year if it is impossible to store them, the church has established the following recommendations.

  1. Blessed objects must not be thrown into trampled places, which include garbage chutes, house containers, sewers, roads, sidewalks.
  2. It is unacceptable to give consecrated eggs as food to pigs, dogs, or other domestic animals.
  3. The best way to dispose of last year's Easter attributes is to burn them in a stove and pour the ashes into the river, and if this is not possible, bury them in a deserted, untrampled place.
  4. Last year's egg can be buried in the cemetery near the graves of relatives.

Quite often there are special tanks at temples. Dilapidated icons, dried prosphora, broken crosses, and church utensils that have become unusable are placed in them. Therefore, when the question arises of what to do with the eggs left over from last Easter, you can take them to such a place.

A separate issue: the use of thermal labels with bright multi-color designs depicting the face of Christ, the Virgin Mary and church paraphernalia in general to decorate eggs. Thermal film does not allow the shell to “breathe” - this explains why eggs, even consecrated in a church, spoil when subsequently stored in the refrigerator. Therefore, you need to prepare exactly as many eggs with thermal stickers as you can eat in the days close to Easter. And it is absolutely unacceptable for labels with icon faces to go into the trash bin along with the shells. In this case, they must be disposed of in the same way as dictated church rules in relation to consecrated objects: burn and get rid of the ash.

But even in manifestations of piety, reasonable measures should be observed. One should not attach importance to some petty ritual institutions, strive to preserve the dyes until the next Day of Christ, or look for signs from above in the fact that last year’s blessed egg has spoiled: it means that the time has come for this.

The main thing is not to turn a ritual attribute into magic talisman, but maintaining a respectful and dignified attitude towards it as a symbol of Easter.

To the question Why do illuminated eggs not spoil??? given by the author Makshakova Olga the best answer is Easter eggs do not spoil - all Orthodox Christians know this. From the point of view of scientists, this is incomprehensible and unnatural. However, recently I became convinced of the truth of this “unnatural” phenomenon.
Last year I went with my little grandchildren to bless Easter dishes in Kiev Pechersk Lavra. I saved one of the painted eggs, placing it on the sideboard. And then one day, from the kitchen, I heard something fall in the room, and my son’s distressed cry: “Mom, I accidentally broke an Easter egg!” I did not reproach him, but only advised him to quickly open the window so that the usual stench for such a case would not spread throughout the room. And suddenly I hear the answer: “No, it doesn’t smell!”
I hurried into the room and, indeed, did not smell any smell. From inside the shell there was a dense layer of grayish-white mass and some leaked light gray liquid. Apparently it wasn't hard-boiled.
My surprise knew no bounds. As a biochemist, I could not find any scientific explanation for this fact. But the mysterious phenomena did not end there. A few months later I received a phone call from a friend of mine with a perplexed question:
- Explain why the egg that you gave us a year ago for Easter exploded yesterday? At this point I had to be surprised. And the following happened. She read the occult book “Living Ethics” to her family; the book ended with the word “Aum”. The moment she read this word, there was a strong explosion, similar to the release of a cork from a bottle of champagne.
Everyone jumped in surprise. We discovered that an Easter egg had shattered into pieces, into small pieces. But what struck my friends was the absence of any unpleasant odor. That is, just like ours. An explosion could only occur if the pressure inside the egg far exceeded the outside air pressure. But even spoiled eggs cannot explode, since the resulting gases can gradually escape through the pores in the shell.
What happened? The Lord, wanting to enlighten the readers of the occult book, revealed both the miracle of the grace of the Holy Spirit in the fact that the egg did not spoil, and the punishment in that it exploded, for the devil's trap - the word "Aum" - is the wicked desecrating the shrine. “Do not give holy things to dogs,” says the Gospel.

Surprisingly, but true, blessed eggs They lie for several years, there is no smell, however, they dry out from the inside, become light, I don’t know how unconsecrated eggs would behave, I think they would stink. And yet - last year the pepper seedlings desperately died, several plants fell every day, but after I put them between the boxes holy egg, not a single plant disappeared anymore, paradoxically, but this really happened to me. Now I advise everyone and you too.

Answer from Anton Kaledin[guru]
not always, that’s the point: it doesn’t always last a year, sometimes it lasts 2 weeks (I was interested in this before)

Answer from Optimist.[guru]
They do not go out, but rather dry out. I had the egg for a year, and then I accidentally damaged it. and then I looked at what was in it. Everything inside was just dry, no smell. And further. The priests say that Easter cakes and eggs are not consecrated, but consecrated and blessed for consumption by believers.
..We Christians should especially receive communion on Easter Day. But since many Orthodox Christians have the custom of receiving the Holy Mysteries during Great Lent, and on the Bright Day of the Resurrection of Christ, few receive communion, then, after the Liturgy is celebrated, on this day special offerings of believers, usually called Easter and Easter cakes, are blessed and consecrated in the church, so that eating from them reminded of the communion of the true Pascha of Christ and united all the faithful in Jesus Christ.
The consumption of blessed Easter cakes and Easter cakes on Holy Week by Orthodox Christians can be likened to the eating of the Old Testament Passover, which on the first day of Easter week God's chosen people ate as a family (Ex. 12:3-4). Also, after the blessing and consecration of Christian Easter cakes and Easter cakes, believers on the first day of the holiday, having come home from churches and having completed the feat of fasting, as a sign of joyful unity, the whole family begins bodily reinforcement - stopping fasting, everyone eats the blessed Easter cakes and Easter, using them throughout Bright Week.
