Brief overview of nations. Brief overview of nations Tips for playing Cossacks 3

In this guide you will see a list of useful tips on the Cossacks 3 strategy that will help you get comfortable at the start and easily win.

Tips on economics and construction

1) Like the entire “Cossacks” series, the third part came out as a dynamic and exciting real-time strategy game. So remember the first and main rule for victory - hire units as quickly as possible.

2) Build several buildings that produce troops. Waiting for reinforcements after one is quite tedious and reduces your chances, so if resources are abundant, build two or three barracks. The same goes for buildings, which increase the possible number of units to hire.

The computer will always periodically raid your base. When you gather an army and go on the offensive, leave some troops in the head fortress, not forgetting to build defensive towers.

3) Many peasants - many resources. Keep several builders for quick repairs and construction of new buildings. Keep more workers in mines, forests and meadows so that resources flow in like a river.

4) Immediately choose the pace of your game - “zerg” or the path through technology. You can quickly build up a large army of early technology units and try to crush the enemy right away, or dig in and go through exploration tactics to eventually outmatch your opponent on the battlefield with better weapons.

The army needs a constant flow of provisions. For protracted wars, you will need a lot of fields and peasants to cultivate them.

5) If you are playing through long tactics, don't worry too much about losses. The final stage of the game provides for lightning-fast restoration and replenishment of armies, when players have huge bases and many resources.

6) Don’t forget about the market where you can exchange resources. In an online game, the exchange rate for items and supplies is always the same, but subsequently (after purchases) prices begin to move. The sooner you start trading on the market, the more profit you will make.

7) In any case, your base should have the following buildings: a couple of city centers, a well-established supply of resources with many constantly working hands, continuous recruitment of troops and constant replenishment of the army, construction of new buildings.

To simplify the training of warriors, you can set a permanent hiring mode. Units will always be produced as long as you have enough troops and resources. When someone from the army dies, a new unit will immediately begin training to replace him.

8) Spend resources on technology if you want to win through it. In a protracted game, most players will most likely conduct all sorts of research, but if you get ahead in the middle, you have every chance of crushing your opponent with technological superiority.

Tips for the army

1) Build defensive towers around the city that can help you during defense. By the way, defensive tactics are no less effective than attacking ones. Crush the enemy under your walls and immediately launch a counterattack.

2) Assign appropriate tasks to units: heavy infantry will not be able to catch up with cavalry, when, like musketeers, they will be able to capture walls without the support of melee warriors and artillery.

3) Quality often exceeds quantity. In the latter case, you can take it only in the early stages of the game, when a protracted one will require you to have maximum technologies and the best units.

Use light cavalry for exhausting attacks - attack and retreat. Kill enemy peasants, quickly burn out their unprotected areas and retreat.

The strategy "Cossacks 3" literally blew up the gaming industry, namely the strategy genre, and today is extremely popular among players. In this regard, certain tactics are formed, according to which players develop. Thanks to articles like this one, you will learn the correct tactics for progressing in the game, as well as learn all the basics! The material is very useful for novice players who recently purchased the Cossacks 3 product.

Development tactics will be described for 20 minutes of development, or, as gamers call it, for 20pt. That is, you will have 20 minutes to calmly develop and then attack enemy troops.

Features of 20pt tactics in the game Cossacks 3

The main feature of 20 minute development is that all nations, in principle, have the same chances of development and victory. This is achieved due to the fact that those who are strong at the start no longer have such strength by the end of development, and less developed nations increase their strength by 20 minutes.
Stages of development at 20pt

Actually, the development tactics are not particularly complicated, but you need to strictly follow all the points. It is divided into 2 stages, which will determine your victory or total defeat. What we need to achieve:

1. Quickly farm stone;
2. Exchange stone resources for other resources that will be needed for the construction of main buildings. From here there will be a transition to the 18th century.

Now we will analyze each stage separately.

How to quickly farm stone

In this tactic, the main emphasis is on improving stone mining to level 2. This is when you are given a pickaxe that will automatically give +200% to the extraction of a resource, namely stone. And the entire economy will then be based on the extraction of stone, which is subsequently exchanged on the market. Accordingly, the more resources of this type you have, the more troops you can hire and upgrade them.

At the very beginning of the start, you need to build 2 city centers (GCs), and put peasants on “endless production”. Be sure to set up a collection point for constant stone mining. Has the construction of the main center been completed? Now install the forge. After activating it, you will be able to build other, more important buildings. Is the forge ready? Immediately build a barracks, and after it suddenly set up an academy. We recommend building a mill in the intervals between the construction of the barracks and the construction of the academy. Then the peasants will be able to immediately queue at the market.

From the GC you will have labor force. They are immediately sent to build a warehouse. Just place it near a stone. When your builders are building the academy, you can send the rest of your free men to mine gold. As a rule, 2 gold mines usually spawn on the map near the player. You can send 5 people to each of them. Just keep in mind that the second gold mine should be near your city center.

And so, let's sum it up! You should currently have the following buildings erected: an academy, a market, 2 main centers, a mill with a forge, and a barracks. Right? Now go to the academy and activate the cart there. This is necessary for accelerated resource extraction. After all, we only have 20 minutes, and during this time we need to farm the maximum amount of stone. The number of units that you can hire in the future will directly depend on this!

Ready? Now we run and go to the market, spend 3000 gold there to buy coal. You still have iron left. We also exchange it for coal. Our goal now is to activate the 2nd level of stone mining using an accelerated pickaxe. Now you partially exchange the mined stone for the purchase of coal and food in order to accumulate resources to the “up” level as quickly as possible. By this time you will have accumulated gold. If there is a lot of excess left, also change it to coal.

In the meantime, while your resources are accumulating at full speed, you need to hire several drummer units and scatter them around the base to illuminate the entire territory. Have you increased the second level of stone mining? Great! Now build the third GC, as it will allow us to hire additional collectors for the stone. On the map near our base we look for another mine with gold, and send several construction units there. We also advise you to capture one or more mines with iron, and be sure to start extracting resources there for the mass production of pikemen. Make sure that the number of houses constantly grows, otherwise you will not create a large army in 20 minutes.

Exchange a gem for other resources

There are already two strategies for further development, but usually most players choose the first! We'll look at both.

First option. Build a second barracks, a diplomatic center and a stable. As soon as we accumulate enough stone, we exchange it for gold. This is a very important point, because... we need to collect a large number of gold bars for further recruitment of dragoons. They are available at the Diplomatic Center. Have you started producing dragoons? Great! Now build another stable, after its completion a cathedral, and finally an art depot. All this is necessary to enter the 18th century. Go to the market and start exchanging most of the stone for wood, and a small part for gold. In order to quickly develop and create units in the stable, you need to activate the horseshoe.

Second option. Let's say that you are playing without building a diplomatic center. Yes, we saved a little, but overall we didn’t gain much in terms of resources! In this case, you exchange all your resources for gold and wood. You will need them to build additional stables. In between, try to buy coal and iron little by little at the market. These resources will be needed to purchase a power-up - a horseshoe.

As a rule, for those players who find themselves in the rear of their team on the map, going back to the 18th century in 20 minutes is, in principle, very realistic. You will have time to build a powerful army and construct all the necessary buildings. All your resource costs will be mainly: gold and food. And don’t forget about the drummers we talked about in the article. Be sure to install them around the perimeter of your base.

In general, as you can see, the strategy is quite simple, but for a beginner it is difficult due to its slow response. You need to get used to the environment, the game interface, and know where and what buildings are located. For faster learning and navigation, we advise you to learn to control units and buildings using hotkeys. This tactic greatly simplifies and speeds up management. The described development tactics in 20 minutes are suitable for any nation, so you can experiment. In a network game, as a rule, the initial resources for such a period of time are set at 5000.

All the talk about "Cossacks 3" invariably come up against a demand urgently, right from Monday morning, to release S. T. A. L. K. E. R. 2. For some reason, the epic nature of “The Cossacks” itself is placed below the gloomy charm of walks around Chernobyl. But in vain: the announcement of the third part spilled a tank of balm on the souls of everyone who has at least once poisoned their grid neighbors with grenadiers (but more often, of course, AI).

But there is a nuance here. “Cossacks 3” is a real remake, and not a continuation at all.

Alone in the field - Cossack

We just recently complained about feigned retrogradeness: bye NGD Studios wrote their project according to the precepts of many years ago, the genre sharply ran forward. “Cossacks 3” completely copies the first part. Part two G.S.C.GameWorld left out of brackets: there were unsuccessful experiments, dangerous distortions and, in general, the seditious 19th century with its total dominance of firearms.

It was a rare player in skirmish mode who started the game without millions of resources and a half-hour truce. But then this happened!

Only the “Cossacks” have no one to knock over a shot glass or shake fists with: everyone has tiredly gone to their tombs. The ideological source of the game - AgeofEmpires- has been feasting in Valhalla for a long time. Command & Conquer shot without trial or investigation. Let's do some more EmpireEarth Let's remember and finally choke on dust.

Who else? In the ancient genre of “build a base - beat the geeks” there is now only one in charge StarСraft 2, but they and the “Cossacks” live on different planes. All other RTS on the market have either gone into sharp tactics with checkpoints ( CompanyofHeroes 2 ), or have changed their minds about building bases ( Wargame: RedDragon), or disappeared.

Only 4X lives at ease, invading adjacent areas ( Stellaris), but that's a completely different story.

Special opinion

To be honest, “Cossacks 3” gave me conflicting feelings. On the one hand, the legendary game has returned to us in a new wrapper, and this is great news for all fans of the series. On the other hand, I expected much more from the third “Cossacks”.

During my school years, I played the original version (or rather, the three parts of the first “Cossacks”) for a couple of thousand hours, and to this day those “Cossacks” are among my top ten favorite games. That's why I was very happy to hear that GSC GameWorld is going to give the legendary game a new lease of life!

I expected that “Cossacks 3” would retain all the best solutions and features of the classic game (it is), but at the same time they would add a number of innovations to the game that were already found in later GSC GameWorld strategies. For example, the morale of units, a close combat mode for all shooting troops, better animation for the construction of buildings, unique models of fighters of all nations (this was already in one of the user patches) and much more.

Unfortunately, there is nothing of the above in “Cossacks 3”. Bugs, of course, will be fixed by the developers soon, but there is very little fresh content and real innovations in the game. All the same units, the same buildings and only twelve playable nations. And I still don’t understand why Ukraine, Turkey and a number of other countries do not have the opportunity to move to the 18th century, although this is a topic for another discussion.

“Cossacks 3” is a long-awaited and beautiful remake of the legendary strategy of 2001, but in 2016 it is no longer enough to make just a remake without any serious gaming innovations. I’m glad that the series has found a new life, I promise to closely monitor the further actions of the creators and hope that “Cossacks” will become better in the future!

Starting millions

The third “Cossacks” work like a time machine, meeting no competition. All their advantages and disadvantages are the same. There are countless peasants - here you really count them in the hundreds. This horde of serfs (or farm laborers) extracts six resources - another hello from the past, when “the more different resources, the cooler”.

Then city centers, barracks, artillery depots, stables, and academies are built. Soldiers are climbing out of some buildings - they are climbing one at a time, but you quickly stop counting them, because soon the count is already in the thousands. Other buildings are being explored for improvements, often “multi-story.”

When you consider the horde of your ugly creatures worthy of a stupid death in battle, the battle begins. Or earlier than ready, but this will mean that you missed the moment. The tactical component here is small, and after the hot air balloon is launched, when the entire map opens, it completely disappears. Press, dig your own mines, blow up others’, then build a battleship of the 18th century, a kind of “Death Star” of the late Renaissance.

A very bad position for us: the Turkish army controls the gorge and the height, and even the guns cut through the close formation like a hot knife through butter.

If you saw the times of unbridled revelry in the strategy genre, then you probably know that then there was a choice, but now there is none (if you don’t look at the social package of a pensioner like Age of Empires 2 HD).

However, without “Cossacks 3” there would be no movement at all on the empty scene of classic RTS. And they were pleasantly surprised by their quality even in 2000, when the game was released. "Cossacks: European Wars". Against the backdrop of hundreds of competitors, it looked colorful, original, intriguing with a convenient system of combat formations that united a crowd of individual units into a squad, and was not inferior in terms of mechanics, even if technological progress there was limited to two eras (XVII and XVIII centuries).

The latter, by the way, turned the usual race from one era to another into something two-act - a debut and a midgame, so to speak.

The Austrian Croat is an elite melee horseman, and it was thanks to his neckerchief that modern ties were born.

The campaign might not have been remade, but GSC strained itself and finally came up with five sets of missions, not counting the training one. What’s nice is that both the conditions and the landscape almost every time create a special picture, different from the “build back and kill everyone” scheme, although in the end you will have to build and kill.

Only in one task there are impregnable fortifications, which can be bypassed for big money through the lands of neutrals, in another - side assignments like delivering cargo, in the third - the battle of huge armies without bases at all, which seems to focus on tactics, but with this in “Cossacks” "was always a little difficult.

Finally, the texts in the campaigns are written surprisingly nicely, without forced jokes and in a beautiful, elegant style.

Rise of the Battleships

The greatest offense was inflicted on connoisseurs of high-end graphics. We ourselves wrote about rich full 3D with beauty, detail and almost the shine of polished spurs. Check out the game's screenshots on its page at Steam: And there the graphics are good enough to make the last of the Mohicans, StarСraft 2, nervous. Non-standard angles, shadows... and everything is so voluminous that you want to grab it and rearrange it.

Up close, “Cossacks 3” reveals its unfinished essence. The camera was blocked for a reason!

In the game itself, everything is not so rosy.

Firstly, the three-dimensionality is not immediately noticeable, because from the start of the game the camera is not allowed to be rotated. To rotate it, you need to enter the command “freecamera” into the console, called by pressing the Enter key (the game will not tell you about this, you need to go into the search engine).

Secondly, the black surface of the fog of war, which looks decent in 2D, disfigures the picture to the limit at any angle other than the standard one.

Thirdly, there is no sky in the game - just a black background. I won’t complain about the detail: yes, it’s at the level of Warcraft 3, but the problem is not that, but the fact that it was possible to make “Cossacks 3” voluminous, but not to adapt it properly.

At the same time, the view from above partially justifies the existence of a free camera - since you climbed into the console...

Should I be worried about this? If visual manufacturability is fundamentally important to you, then yes. Otherwise, “Cossacks” has retained its usual charm; the structures of all nations differ from each other, as do the sets of units, although there are still some standards among them.

And if you are also concerned about performance, then worry no more. The game “hangs” almost all PCs when more cannon fodder has accumulated, and if a mess breaks out, take away the saints.

We’ll also keep quiet about the online game: it works how it wants and when it wants. However, in the time that has passed since the release, all these horrors are slowly being smoothed out. Patches are released almost daily - at least GSC is in a hurry to atone for its sins, not just some.

Many missions are carried out in the form of a role-playing game. On the left we are gathering militia against the English royalists, and on the right we are plowing through French waters.

And the bug with copying your own army seems to have disappeared into the depths of Internet folklore. That's where he belongs. And without it, in multiplayer, old scoundrels are tearing young people to pieces.

An avid strategy player knows that the main thing in victory is not technology and maximum improvement of units, but competent leadership: proper formation, creation of a mobile army and full interaction between different types of troops. In “Cossacks 3”, much attention is paid to this, that even a drummer is required not for decoration, but to set the tempo.

About drill training again

When you have created an army, it needs to be fully equipped. Hire a drummer and an officer that the academy opens, and assign them to a dedicated squad. This will make the latter a more coherent striking element.

Moreover, set a certain number of warriors that will make up your regiments. With infantry, choose 36, 72, 120, 196 or even 400 people, with cavalry - 40, 90 or 160. The latter, by the way, does not require an officer.

Once built, the armies will become stronger in more ways than one: their melee and ranged attacks will increase, and their defense will become stronger.

It will become much easier for you, the commander, to lead a well-coordinated unit, since it will be selected with just one click - just click on one soldier from the detachment, and the entire unit to which he is attached will be selected.

You can assign hotkeys to each of the squads by holding down the standard buttons - Ctrl and some number. In the future, clicking on the specified number will highlight for you the squad that you have linked to it.

Types of construction

Kare

A renowned option for protection. With this formation you can easily defend your artillery, closing it with an impenetrable ring. The most effective square is made up of spearmen or archers.

Linear construction

standard type, when fighters stand in a line. An excellent option for musketeers whose lines can quickly replace each other.

Column

solid column formation. Well suited for close-range warriors, who will thus easily deal with enemy cavalry.

Due to the fact that there are many different units in the Cossacks 3 game, with just three formations you can create interesting combinations of different effectiveness and application.

1) If you place howitzers in front of an infantry column, you will turn it into an excellent strike unit. The main disadvantage is the guns, since they are unprotected and can be quickly destroyed, which defeats the whole point of the formation.

2) When retreating or on defense, create a square of infantry and place conventional artillery in the center. Press the "hold territory" command to keep units close to the cannons.

3) Similar to the first option, place cannons in front of the already linear formation of musketeers. If you correctly bring them to the enemy, and occupy the heights, then the latter will suffer incredible losses. If enemies start approaching the cannons, move them behind the line.

4) Column and square. Place musketeers in the center, and then surround them with melee warriors.

5) It is best to place one artillery at a distance from each other, which will be facilitated by a linear type of formation. In normal mode, they will stand too close, which exposes them to instant destruction if hit by an enemy.

Strike group options

1) Place infantrymen in front of the army so that they act as its shield. Depending on the situation, there may be different melee warriors. Spearmen, for example, seem to be the best option, as they are excellent against cavalry and cost very little gold.

2) After them there should be cannons that will shoot over your shield, cutting through the enemy’s advanced ranks.

3) Then the shooters are in a linear formation, which will also shoot through the infantrymen.

4) Behind the riflemen there is artillery again, but this time it is ranged. It will destroy not the enemy’s advanced troops, but its fortifications and artillery.

Strategy Cossacks 3 is a new (and currently last) game in the Cossacks series, released in 2016. Outwardly, it is very similar to. A lot of things have migrated from there: the action takes place in the same 17-18 centuries, the game modes have not changed, the winning strategy is the same (building your own settlement with a strong economy, creating a powerful combat-ready army).

The difference between the 3rd part of the Cossacks and the old game

So, how is it different from other publications?

Beautiful modern graphics. Strategy Cossacks 3 is built on the same type as ,. However, in the third Cossacks, every object on the map is perfectly detailed - you can even look at it close-up, zoom in or look at it from different angles. Thus, three-dimensional graphics appeared for the first time in Cossacks III.

Sea battle

Convenient for a beginner. The developers added several small improvements that fixed bugs that made it inconvenient to play.
For example, when it was necessary to build a mine, it was necessary to specifically search and allocate 5 peasants so that they would build it and immediately enter it.
Or a bug with an attack by a squad of units. When a squad of, for example, musketeers marches on the command “forward, killing everyone on the way,” then instead of starting fire with muskets, they go into hand-to-hand combat. After this, all the advantages of the squad are only lost. And also, even if this detachment destroyed someone, then after that it stops going somewhere. It just stands and that's all.
Well, your population began to be shown in the upper left corner and the number of peasants engaged in the extraction of a specific resource. This was taken from.

Now you can scout the area without losing your units as much as before. The thing is that if you place them in the forest, it will be more difficult for the enemy to shoot them, due to the fact that the squad located in the forest receives less damage from shooting. By the way, this is also taken from
Well, the terrain now affects the outcome of the battle much less.

Clash of two armies

Disadvantages of part 3 of the Cossacks

Requires a powerful computer. Unlike Cossacks War Again, which are available on almost any computer, laptop, netbook(!), to achieve optimal FPS in the new Cossacks game you will need very powerful hardware. Personally, on my laptop Lenovo IdeaPad Z580 2012 (Intel Core i3 2.4 GHz, 4 GB RAM, NVIDIA GeForce 630M) it runs very poorly, without severe lags it only runs the game 1v1. Well, I also have another new laptop, but with with a weak built-in video card, it was possible to play on it even with 3 computer opponents, but when the number of units on the screen approaches 1000, everything begins to freeze. Naturally, all this was played at the minimum screen resolution and minimum game settings. But if you have a more or less new personal computer, then most likely you don’t care.

The Turks entered the captured Swedish city

Price. Although so many good things have been done, I personally think that such a game cannot cost 949 rubles. The price is too high just for the reanimated Cossacks. But if you follow the news on their website, VK page, or Steam, you can catch a discount of 50%-70% of the cost of the game.

Yes, GSC is not doing very well. The company closed in 2011, ceasing development of Stalker 2, and the last game, S.T.A.L.K.E.R. : Call of Pripyat was released in 2009. And after a long break, in May 2015 it was announced that the company was not closing and was developing new Cossacks. Part 3 of Cossacks was released in September 2016. Therefore, in this regard, Cossacks III are still losing to their competitors. Although recently there was a pre-New Year discount that reached 70% - the game could be bought for more than three hundred rubles.
