How to work with daemon tools. Daemon Tools Pro - features of using the program

Using Daemon Tools Lite to Create Virtual CD/DVD Drives

Daemon Tools is rightfully considered one of the best tools for creating virtual drives that will bypass various copy protection systems such as SecuROM, SafeDisc, StarForce, Protect CD and many others.

There are four versions of this software in total, and only one of them is distributed free of charge. The rest can be used without payment only during the 20-day trial period. They differ in the number of virtual drives that can be created and some other features. However, all versions, without exception, support such formats as ccd, ape / cue, bin / cue, iso, isz, mdx, cdi, mds, nrg.

This is what the Daemon Tools Lite menu looks like. It may not seem very informative, but it is quite enough for productive work with this software.

In principle, to work with the program it is not at all necessary to run it in this form. After all, usually, the installed Daemon Tolls is displayed in the lower right corner of your desktop.

In this case, it will be enough to right-click on this icon to access the main functions of the program. But for greater clarity, it is worth considering this software in the mode that is presented in the first image.

The first two buttons on this panel allow you to add images to the catalog. Images can be created both by this and other special programs, and their extensions were indicated above. Once you add an image to this directory, you can always quickly access it later, unless its location on your computer changes. The second button removes the image from the catalog. This will need to be done if you want to delete the image file.

The next three buttons are needed in order to place images directly on the virtual drive. The first one allows you to mount the image. If you already have added images in the catalog, then by selecting one of them and clicking on the "Mount" button, you will quickly download this image. In the event that there are no images in the catalog, the user will be offered the opportunity to search for them using Explorer. In order to remove the image from the virtual drive, just click on the "Unmount" button, which comes next. The next, third button, allows you to unmount all virtual drives at once. Even in the free version, there can be as many as 4 of them, while in the advanced professional version, the number of drives is 32.

The next three buttons are responsible for adding and removing new virtual drives. You can add a DT or SCSI drive. There is no particular difference between them, and it all depends on how copy protection reacts to the presence of one of these types of virtual drives. In any case, you can easily add as many of them as the program's capabilities allow you to. The third button removes drives, which takes only a couple of seconds.

The two buttons next to each other deal with functions such as creating a disk image and burning an image to disk. If you click on the first of them, then this image creation window will appear in front of you.

Here you will be able to select the drive that contains the disk whose image you want to create. Then choose the reading speed and specify the location where the image file will be saved. Its data can be compressed to save space.

But to burn the image to disk, you will need to install a special program Astroburn Lite. After installing it, it will be enough just to select one of those images that are in your directory and click on the "Burn Image" button.

So, the settings and help buttons come last. In the settings, you can choose the language, file associations, and some other features that can make using the program more comfortable. The help field traditionally sends the user to the developer's site, to the helpdesk, and to check for updates.

Using this program is very simple, and a small number of buttons on the panel allows you to quickly understand all its functions. That is why at present

We work with the Daemon Tools program - details.

If you have been using your computer for more than half a year, on your user path you have probably come across files with strange extensions like .mds, .iso, .nrg… What are these files? These are disk images created by one or another special program as a result of the image creation process. Creating an image is making an exact copy of a CD\DVD\Blue-Ray disc onto a hard drive. In order for these files to be opened on a computer, you will have to use one of the many special emulation programs. Let's look at how to use one of these programs, namely Daemon Tools.

When the image disappears, you can start Daemon Tools itself. We are waiting for the program to check the license, and we see the main window.

The images directory is empty because no images have been added. On the icon bar we see:

Button for adding an image to the catalog.

The button for deleting an image from the catalog (not from the disk!).

    Drive start.

    Stopping and unmounting the drive.

    Stop and unmount all drives.

Button for adding a virtual DT drive. I'll tell you more about this. The fact is that a large number of licensed discs have copy protection. And when disk emulation occurs, the licensed disk protection automatically detects the virtual drive and blocks reading data from it. This protection can be bypassed by a DT drive, which can be set by pressing this button.

Installing a new SCSI drive. With this button, you can add a regular virtual drive.

    Deleting a dedicated drive.

Additional features (can be accessed both by clicking on the button and when the window is maximized). These are the buttons Create a disc image, Burn (burn) a disc from an image, Settings and Help.

All functions of the main window have been discussed above. Set up the program by clicking on the "Settings" button. We see the following window:

In the "General" tab everything is clear, set up and go to the next tab. There is nothing complicated here - if you need to assign hot keys, click on the desired field with the cursor and press the necessary keys.

Integration Tab- we do not change anything, and files - images can be opened with this program.

Connection Tab- if necessary, put down the required data there.

"Confirmations"– if you tick the necessary actions, the program will ask you to confirm your action (for example, when deleting a drive, the program will ask “Are you sure you want to delete this drive?”)

"Additionally"- fine-tuning the program, you can read more on the Internet.

"Media - information"- at your request.

So, the program is set up. Now let's move on to the most important thing - mounting the image. Select the desired drive and click the button to add an image to the catalog.

In this case, the file is called NFS_Carbon. Select it and click "Open".

The file appeared in the image directory. To mount the image, double-click on the image in the directory. Everything, the disk is mounted.

In order to stop the image emulation in the drive, click "Stop".

Daemon Tools is one of the most popular programs for working with disk images in ISO, BIN, CUE, MDF, CAB, and other formats. The most common use of the program is to mount an image into a virtual drive, which makes it possible to install and run various programs without using the original installation disk. Next, I will talk about the features of the program and I will write a short guide on how to work with Daemon Tools to create, edit and burn disc images.

Purpose of Daemon Tools

This program creates a virtual drive in the system where you can mount (attach) images of folders and disks. An image is an exact copy of the original disk or a list of files and folders. Almost all games downloaded on the network and on torrents, operating systems, application packages, boot packages for flash drives are presented in the form of images created in a particular program, and almost all of them have the iso format. These images can be opened using special utilities - Daemon Tools, UltraISO, Nero and the like.

Where to download DaemonTools

Previously, the program had free versions that were presented on the developer's website. Now there are only paid versions, and older free versions can be easily found on the Internet. Best of all, download the daemon-tools from the developer's site. In this case, you will protect yourself from the fact that a virus or adware can be sewn into the program. If you are downloading DemonTools from a third party resource, it must be an authoritative portal. In addition, you will need the serial code for the version you are installing if you need a fully functional program.

How to install Daemon Tools

After downloading the installation package of the program, run it. The program installation window will appear. The free version of the program will additionally install a bunch of unnecessary software for you if you just click "Next". So I recommend choosing the installation options and unchecking those items that you do not consider necessary.

I am against pirated software, but for informational purposes I downloaded a fully functional version with a "cure" from a torrent. Here is the folder and file structure of the Daemon Tools Pro Advanced installation kit.

We start the installation of Daemon Tools Pro. The main window will appear with a choice of available languages for installation. Select the appropriate one and click "Next". We accept the license agreement and get to the license type selection page. Since we have a "cure" for the program, we choose a trial license.

Next, select the program components that you want to install. I left all the checkboxes by default. We are waiting for the program to be installed. In the toolbar settings window, uncheck all the checkboxes. Next, the installation will complete and the program will start.

How to use ISO image in Daemon Tools

If we have an ISO image that we want to use, we need to open Daemon Tools, Click the "Add Image" button, select the desired image file, and click the "Mount" button. There is an alternative way to mount an ISO image into a virtual drive - you need to right-click on the image file and select "Mount" -> the desired Daemon Tools virtual drive in the context menu that appears.

The program allows you to create image files in ISO format from folders and files, as well as from disks in the drive. If we have a disk, the image of which we want to create, so that later we can transfer it to someone over the network or use it on our computer without the original disk.

How to create an ISO image in Daemon Tools Pro? Very simple. To do this, open the main program window and click the "Create disk image" button.

In addition, Daemon Tools Pro provides extensive customization options for creating images. For example, we can create an image file not only in ISO format, but also in MDX, MDS/MDF formats; it is possible to choose the format of the disk whose image we need, the ability to split the image into several parts, depending on the final size of the image.

In this article, we will explain in detail, in pictures, step by step, how to use . We will learn how to mount an image we already have, we will be able to create and burn images to disk. All this can be done just by downloading an excellent program for free - an emulator. We will not drag it out for a long time, but consider the most important points. The first is installing the emulator.

To install the Russian language for Daemon Tools Lite, you should select "Russian (Russian)" at the very beginning of the installation.

After agreeing to the terms of use, you will be prompted to select the type of license: paid or free. Since we are considering the process of the free version, we will install it. It is just suitable for personal, non-commercial use. Therefore, select "Free license" and click "Next".

After that, a window will appear in which you will be asked to set the file association, show or not shortcuts on the desktop and in the program menu. You can safely leave everything by default, especially if you do not have another disk emulator installed. Click "Next" again.

The next window will ask you to send mount statistics and be assured that everything will be done anonymously. Information will be sent about all images that you mount to Daemon Tools Lite. You can send or not, it's up to you. In this example, we will disable the use of our stats by clicking on "Do not allow Mount Space to use my stats".

Select the location where the installation will be performed.

During the installation process, you will be prompted to install Yandex.Bar. You can agree, or uncheck all the boxes and click "Next", as shown in the picture.

After installation, you should return to the main question - how to use Daemon Tools Lite? Even easier than installing!

So, to create an image in Daemon Tools Lite, you need to click on "Create a disk image".

After that, you should select the location where the disk image will be saved and the drive from which the recording will be made.

Writing a disc to a computer is fast enough, especially if you left the read speed at maximum.

Your image is in the folder that you specified before creating the disk image. But you probably do not have any virtual drives, and in order to run a disk on a computer, we need to create at least one of them. To do this, click on "Add virtual SCSI drive".

Literally a moment, and at the bottom of the program an icon of a virtual drive will appear, on which we will mount our virtual images. You can create and emulate several disks at the same time, but for now, one is enough for us.

Now let's look at how to mount an image in Daemon Tools Lite and simply add it to the list. To add an image to the list, simply drag it to the main window, or use the "Add image" button for this, and specify the path to it.

Next

To mount a Daemon Tools Lite image to a virtual drive, select the newly added image and click Mount. Also, you can right-click on any image and click "Mount".

Next

As you can see in the picture above, our image has been successfully mounted. You should automatically start the disk, as in autorun. Also, at any time you can access the disk by going to "My Computer".

If you want to unmount the disk, that is, remove it temporarily or permanently, then call the context menu (right mouse button) on your virtual disk and select "Unmount".

Thanks to Daemon Tools Lite, you can not only mount, but also burn discs. Rather, the duty to burn the image to a DVD or CD disc is taken over by the Astroburn program, which is built into the Daemon Tools menu.

After a short installation, you can absolutely, and not only images, but also ordinary files and folders. Using it is very simple, you just need to select the path to the image or drop files and folders for recording into the main window, and then click on "Start Recording".

As you can see, the sequence of actions is not complicated, and after several uses, you will automatically perform these simple actions.

Mounting is an operation that makes a virtual disk image available for use. If DAEMON Tools Ultra is installed on your PC, you can mount images by double-clicking on them in File Explorer. However, for more convenient work, we recommend that you mount images through the DAEMON Tools Ultra interface.

DAEMON Tools Ultra works with all popular types of virtual disks. For a complete list of supported formats, see the File Association article. The program also works with ZIP, RAR and 7z archives starting from DAEMON Tools Ultra 2.4, 5.1 and 5.2 respectively. With DAEMON Tools Ultra 5.4 you can also mount WIM archives and DAA images.

To mount an image from DAEMON Tools Ultra, click the button Quick mount in the main program window and select the desired image in the dialog that opens:

Click the button Open. DAEMON Tools Ultra will automatically create a virtual device, so that in a few moments the image will be ready.

You can also add and mount through the window images. Click on a tile Keep, right-click on the image directory and select Add Images.... The drag and drop function also works: just drag an image file from the explorer into the DAEMON Tools Ultra image catalog window and it will be added to the list.

After adding images to the directory, you can mount them using the context menu images: Find the desired image, open its context menu and select mount. Or just double click on the image.

Finally, you can mount the image using the context menu of the image file in Explorer.

If the image is password protected, it cannot be mounted without the password.

You can customize the mount options in DAEMON Tools Ultra using Advanced Image Mounting. The advanced mount wizard allows you to select a virtual or physical drive; also for virtual - drive type (DT, SCSI or IDE), DVD region, drive letter or folder; and for a physical drive, the device, bus type, and media priority. To open the master Advanced mount, you must select a tile mount, and then - Image; or open the context menu of the image in Image catalog, and select the appropriate option; or enter Advanced image mounting in the search bar in the main menu.

To unmount the image, click the cross next to the image icon in the area Quick mount, or select the option Delete in the context menu of the image.
