Fishing with a side nod for a summer jig in the reeds is very productive and reckless. The concentration of attention on the nod is probably even greater than on the float. In addition, the rod is constantly in hand, and we never lose contact with the bait for a second.

Fishing shops have everything you need in abundance: rods, nods, mormyshkas, etc., but it’s much more interesting to make tackle with your own hands. As often happens that we are looking for something “the same, but with mother-of-pearl buttons”. So it was with me with the search for a lateral nod.

You can make them from any springy material. The most affordable, probably, is a simple plastic clamp. With the thickness and length of the clamp, we can adjust the sensitivity of the nod.

From copper wire with a cross section of 0.5-1 mm. sq. we make a tulip and, if desired, a middle ring. With several skeins of electrical tape, we fasten the rings to the clamp from the smooth side (without notches). Thus, the nod springs a little better. You can add some "superglue". If there is heat shrinkage, then we dress it.

We make a corner of copper wire with a cross section of 1 mm. sq. for attaching to the tip of the rod. We attach the small side of the corner (about 2 cm) to the clamp in the same way as the rings.

Next, decorate to your liking. Used for these purposes is electrical tape of different colors, colored heat shrink, nail polish. It is also very good to make a flag at the tip of a nod from a price tag or electrical tape. This decor will allow you not to strain your eyesight when fishing in the reeds.

The rod should be taken 4-5 meters long. Mandatory with fasteners for the coil. Preferably with rings. We fasten the nod to the tip with electrical tape. This fastening is necessary only for fixing the side nod, because the nod does not carry any load.

You can take any coil, most importantly reliable. If you use a non-inertial one, hold the friction clutch almost to the stop so that the hooking is sharp and the fish does not go into the reeds, from where it will be almost impossible to get it out.

If inertial, then it should be possible to easily hand over the line when playing the fish. When you fish in the reeds at a depth of half a meter with a five-meter rod, then without this opportunity you simply will not raise the end of the rod, or lift it, and the fish will see the pond from a five-meter height.

A cord should be wound around the coil, again, for a sharp hook. Choose the diameter of the cord according to the object of fishing. With this tackle, both finger-sized crucian and carp weighing 5 kg can be successfully caught.

The nod is very sensitive. As you can see in the last two photos, any touch to the mormyshka is immediately reflected in the nod.

Summer mormyshkas can be used purchased or homemade, made by hand. I most often use the hook I need, which I simply load with a ball of lead. When catching crucian carp, the best bait is a worm, maggot, bloodworm. When fishing for carp - peas. We graft crucian carp with mastyrka, but carp - with the same peas.

Yes, and one more thing: I dream of a nod after fishing, just like a float.
