The winter nod can be adapted to the place of the summer one, but it simply will not be visible. Also, winter nods are quite elegant and on a rod 5-7 meters long they will not be able to normally control a jig, which is also larger.

The summer nod is more powerful, with bright large elements that are clearly visible at the tip of the rod.
There are many designs of summer nods. Various materials are used for their manufacture. Which to choose? Which should provide a summer nod.

What summer nod do you need

The right summer nod fishes itself! - from the vibration of the rod, the main thing is not to interfere with it.

The nod should not bend under the weight of the jig, but it should not transmit all the jitters of the fishing rod to it, i.e. without too much rigidity. But he must bend when biting and announce with all his appearance - “Pecking!”.

To compensate for the extra small vibrations of the rod, the summer nod should be quite long, at least 22 cm. But the longer the rod is used, the longer the nod is used. For 7 meters, 30 cm is already recommended, and for 8 meters - at least 35 cm.

Metal nods for summer fishing

Metal summer nods are divided into flat and round.
Round means made of wire, the simplest, because it is not difficult to pick up a piece of steel wire. But it is not widely used, since along with vertical vibrations it easily makes horizontal ones, or, simply, dangles. And this means zero wind resistance, the inability to give the initial curvature upwards - it strives to fall sideways, and other inconveniences.

Carbon and fiberglassNods made from a material that has more carbon (more “coal”) are better. Less weight with great elasticity. They can produce high frequency vibrations, akin to those that can only reproduce metallic nods, with a high result in catchability. Coal nods are also called "voiced".

In addition, coal have the least weight. Rods can be lighter and more delicate, the nod does not overload them. This makes it possible to effectively use budget fly rods.

They are made by hand from an aircraft model rail or from the knee of a carbon rod. A knife, sandpaper and a little diligence will help to create a new nod for summer fishing.

Many anglers consider coal nods to be the best in terms of their combination of characteristics.

Rings, signaling devices on nods

On the summer nod, one or two throughput rings are installed, without counting the fact that the signaling device at the end can also combine the functions of the ring.

The best rings are made from thin steel springs mined in ancient radio engineering. There is stainless steel and amazing wear resistance.
The simplest ring is made of thin copper wire, easy to make, but quickly cut.

Another option - rings with ceramics from feeder tips, used for braiding. They also make rings from thick fishing line, preferably from fluorocarbon.

Due to the fact that rings often fail, they should not be fastened with threads with glue. It is better to choose a removable mount using silicone cambric.

With regard to the bite signaling device, the lightest colored foam pellet, slightly elongated, still dominates. It can be glued or put on a nod (tight) and fixed with a pass ring at the end.

Another interesting option - very practical, simple and durable - multi-colored segments of cocktail tubes.
Moreover, one tube is inserted into another, and a nod is passed between them. They also serve as a pass ring, and very durable.

How to transport

Thus, fishing requires a whole set of nods.
But the question is how to deliver them?
For nods, only a tube is needed and nothing else. You can only make it yourself from an old telescope warehouse, or by twisting wide cardboard with a tube on glue, and picking up corks for all this.
