Winter perch trolling

Of all types of fishing - catching perch in winter on a lure is one of the most exciting. There are enough arguments to support this. This is both an opportunity to replenish the supply of fishing passion in the off-season, and the specifics of the process itself, which requires certain training and knowledge. However, even taking into account the perch's year-round activity, it is not at all a fact that in order to catch a trophy, it is enough just to lower the tackle with a lure into the hole.

By the time of freezing, the perch strays into flocks and goes to the deepest places of the reservoirs. Usually these are pits and dumps. At the same time, there is no difference whether it is a lake or a pond, a river or a spacious reservoir. Perch likes to spend the winter next to snags, driftwood and large stones. In winter, small perch can be found on the border of reed thickets, where it, hunting for fry and insects, comfortably waits out the winter.

As for the preferred depths for catching a striped predator, there is no strict standard here. Perch migration through a reservoir can bring good luck to a fisherman from a depth of 10-12 meters, and from a shallow of several tens of centimeters.

All this suggests that fishermen need to look for luck along the high banks of rivers and lakes, in places where water bodies have maximum depths, next to reeds and where perch actively manifested itself in summer.

About place and time

Perch by nature is very. That is why - it is hardly necessary to wait for good luck, going fishing in a snowstorm or especially gloomy weather. The reverse situation is observed at high and clear skies. In such weather, perch activity can continue all day long.

At the same time, perch is indifferent to air temperature. In other words, you can end up with a catch both in the thaw, and when serious minuses are observed on the thermometer. A temporary lull in biting in clear weather can be associated either with the approach of a large predator to the area of the hole, or with the migration of the flock itself.

The most common, as well as the most working equipment for winter fishing for perch, is simple in essence and manufacturing. Next to the spinner, a 3-5 cm long leash with a small hook is attached to the main line.

The essence of this equipment lies in the following: when twitching the spinner, the hook creates an additional "intrigue" for the perch. The interest of the predator will be enhanced if the leg of the hook is wrapped with red thread and coated with shiny varnish. You will get some kind of bloodworm.

Advice! In addition to the red thread, it will be very practical to attach an imitation of an insect inhabitant of this reservoir to the hook. Thus, in front of the perch there is a clear picture of the fry hunting (it is also a spinner) for an insect. Further, everything is simple - the innate desire to be the first in the pursuit of prey will provoke a perch to get hooked.

As practice has shown, a fishing rod for perch fishing on a lure in winter must be rigid and preferably equipped with a stationary or removable reel. The optimal length of the fishing rod is 270-350 mm. Such - are widely represented in company stores for anglers. For true amateurs - an exclusive and convenient in all respects rod can be made even with your own hands.

Note that the reel here is needed solely for storing fishing line. In the process of fishing, it is not always convenient to use it, and at shallow depths it is not practical at all.

The thickness of the line depends on the size of the potential prey. With standard perch sizes (up to 300 grams), 0.08-0.12 mm will be enough. On reservoirs where specimens of a larger size are not rare, the diameter of the fishing line should be at least 0.12-0.16 and even more). The color scheme depends on the color of the bottom, the vegetation of the reservoir and the water itself. Thus, for those who are not used to being left without a catch, it is necessary to have a line from brown to almost transparent in their arsenal.

About the tactics and strategy of catching winter perch

There are several technologies for catching perch on a lure in winter. Some may be preferred for certain locations, others for specific bodies of water, but one thing is clear - owning several is a guarantee of success. We list the main ones:

  1. At the bottom.

The spinner sinks to the bottom, moves passively and rises. Further, it is sharply understood by 30-50 centimeters. In the absence of a bite, it sinks to the bottom to repeat the cycle

  1. teasing.

The spinner falls to the bottom. It smoothly rises by 20-30 centimeters and also falls back. The interval between lifting and lowering is 5-6 seconds.

  1. Dragging.

Lures at the bottom. By moving the fishing rod from one edge of the hole to the other, the lure also moves synchronously at the bottom. The method is effective on hard ground without vegetation and other obstacles.

  1. Simple glitter.

The movement of the spinner from the hole to the bottom consists of separate sections, where a slight twitch is made after 10-15 centimeters of the recess. When the bottom is reached, a sharp rise is made (almost to the surface), after which the cycle repeats.

  1. Classic.

The spinner under the influence of its weight sinks to the bottom, playing with edges and shimmering, and when it reaches the bottom, it rises to the surface in several steps. With this method, coils with a latch release button are quite effective.

Advice! Each fisherman in technology of spinning can and should have his own interpretation. Deviation from patterns is always due not only to the size and shape of the spinners, but also to the habits of the perches themselves in a single reservoir. It has always brought and will certainly bring good luck.
