What is the name of the golf course? Roddick plays golf. Resting ball shifted.

“Play the ball as he lay down, play on the field as it is, if neither one nor the other is possible, do justice,” says the basic principle of the game of golf. “To do the right thing, you need to know the rules of golf.”

Historically, the right to change and interpret the rules of modern golf, derived from the old Scottish game, remained for centuries at the Royal and Old St. Andrews Golf Club.

The reason: putting the clock and clock on the fields, the Scottish warriors neglected the training of the bow and arrow, seriously interfering in the national defense, the war with England. Despite this, the Dutch also claim to be a father of golf. On the Scottish side, there are no definitive records of when golf was first played, but we know that it became a popular game when St.

The solution to this issue is almost impossible, but Scotland at least admits that it was the first country to ban sports activities. The word "golf" comes from English golf, which, in turn, comes from the German flask, which means "taco."

Starting from January 1, 2004, all rights and obligations of the Royal and Vintage St. Andrews Golf Club in the area of drafting and interpreting rules (as well as interpretations and decisions on golf rules and rules determining amateur status) were transferred to R & A Rules Limited, which It operates with the consent of more than 130 national and international, amateur and professional organizations and on behalf of approximately 30 million golfers in Europe, Africa, Asia-Pacific, North and South America (with the exception of the United States and Mexico). The United States Golf Association (USGA) is the governing body for golf in the United States and Mexico. Once every four years, these organizations jointly approve changes to the rules of golf and publish their next edition in English. The Russian Golf Association on the basis of a license from R & A Rules Limited translates the rules into Russian and, after the approval of R & A, is the official publication of the rules of golf in Russian.

The origins of golf are not entirely known. They are defined by historians and are based similarly on other games played at different times. The earliest origin dates back to the Roman Empire, in which the poet Marcial spoke in a game called "Paganism". Centuries later, games with tacos and balls appeared in France and the Netherlands that must have established a connection between pagans? and current golf.

All of these games used to play golf with a small spherical object that was beaten by a specially designed club to project it in a straight line and in a certain direction. On all these conjunctures of origin, Golf is dominated by the theory that current Golf is derived from the evolutionary process of the ice game called “Kolven”, which the Dutch brought to Scotland during the spice trade, between the Dutch ports and the east coast of Scotland.

Understanding that the full text of the rules is a very voluminous and difficult document, since 2004 R & A has been publishing an easy-to-use brochure “Rules in Brief”. We are offering them to your attention.

Since golf is essentially a self-regulating game, all golfers should have a good understanding of the basic rules contained in this guide. However, this guide does not replace the rules of golf, which should be addressed in case of any doubt.

Considering golf as a Scottish game, the result of the immense popularity it has achieved among the inhabitants of Scotland. Two factors contributed to the success of the game, significant free time that the crews of the ships had to practice on this? between landing and shipping goods? and the natural conditions of the sandy lands of eastern Scotland, the famous Scottish connections.

These lands did not have agricultural abilities, and they had creeping vegetation, where they easily made holes, and if they introduced balls? made with goose down and rolled up skin? beats with wooden spikes. The goal of the game was to get the ball into each hole with the fewest hits. Large fields were usually five holes and a length of 500 meters.

BASIC PROVISIONS

Before the start of the round:

Read the local rules on the scorecard or on the information board.

Put a tag on the ball. Many golfers play the same brand of balls, and if you cannot determine the ownership of your ball, it will be considered lost.

Count your clubs, you are allowed to have a maximum of 14 clubs.

The queen, who was French, presented the game to France when she studied there. The first golf course was built in Leyte, near Glasgow. The club later became the Honorary Company of the Edinburgh Golfers. Andrews The Golfing Society has been established and is organizing its first official competition using the Leith rules.

Golf courses maintained the same basic structure until the end of the century. Golf courses are now built in a variety of places from primitive, in mountainous terrain, forcing large land movements, requiring drainage and irrigation systems that are more or less sophisticated, due to the lack of minimum humility required by vegetation now planted.

During the round:

Do not ask advice from anyone except your partner (player of your team) or your caddies. Do not give advice to anyone except your partner. But you can ask questions about the rules, distances and the position of obstacles, a flag, etc.

During the game on the hole is prohibited any training shots.

At the end of the round:

The construction of an 18-hole golf course implies a high investment, which varies depending on the type of terrain, from 650,000 to 2,000,000 dollars. The most famous English golf club, the Royal and Ancient St. Andrews Golf Club and the United States Golf Association are today the governing bodies of the world of golf, competing with them for defining the rules of the game, as well as for the technical characteristics of the equipment that will be used by all players throughout the world. the world.

Golf has spread throughout the European continent, as well as in America and Asia, by Scottish and English immigrants, who, having reached their destination, sought to create a club and get land for building their own golf course. So it was in Brazil at the end of the 20th century.

In a match game, make sure the match result is fixed.

In the game on the account, make sure that the account card is fully framed, and return it as soon as possible.

RULES OF THE GAME

Hit

Place the ball for the first strike between the tee markers, but not in front of them.

You may place the ball for the first strike within two stick lengths behind the line between the markers.

Worldwide, although it is not known for certain, the number of golfers is estimated to be about 60 million practitioners. Of these, 30 million are in the United States of America, 15 million in Japan and 8 million in Europe. The remaining 7 million are scattered throughout the rest of the world, in particular 2, 6 million and almost a million in Australia.

In Japan, this figure was set at 25%. However, the highest growth rates of players in the world were 45%, confirmed in Europe. On the European continent, the rhythm of field growth in several countries is several dozen per year. The most famous English golf club, the Royal and Ancient St. Andrews Golf Club and the United States Golf Association, today are the governing bodies of golf around the world, competing with them to determine the rules of the game, as well as the technical characteristics of the equipment that will be used by all players all over the world.

If you make the first strike from outside the tee, in a match game, the penalty is not imposed, however, your opponent has the right to ask him to beat the strike; in the game on the account - you are subject to a penalty of two hits, after which you must play from the right place.

Ball game

If you think that you have found your ball, but the identification mark is not visible, you are entitled to mark and pick up the ball to determine its belonging with the permission of your marker or opponent.

The most profitable and practical sport in the world goes through a period of expansion in Brazil. According to Manoel Luis Cataldo, President of the Confederation of Golf Mineei and Morro to Chapeu Golf Club, it grows at an average rate of 15% per year. The origin of this sport has some versions. The game lasts, on average, 4 hours and a half, for eight kilometers.

The player breathes fresh air, exercises his body, his mind, and also makes friends, he comments. In order to play golf, do you have to have a tennis court? a bag with a set of 14 tacos, balls, shoes with the soles of the locks, to ensure stability in positioning and gloves, to prevent the palms of the hands from slipping.

Play the ball from the position in which it appeared. Do not improve the location of the ball, the area of the proposed stand or swing, or the line of play by shifting, bending or breaking something fixed or growing, except as a direct result of making the game stand or during the swing process. Do not improve the location of the ball, tamping something.

The winner completes the 18-hole course with fewer strokes. If the ball enters the water, the player will take a penalty and strike again at a place near the lake shore. When the ball leaves the field boundaries marked with white bets, the player takes a penalty and must repeat the course of the original place.

If the ball hits the sandbox, it will have an additional difficulty: you will not be able to rest in the club until the moment of the shot. A sport that can be practiced individually or in groups of two to four players has a special meaning: the main opponent is the field, because it cannot do anything to prevent the performance of other players. The result depends on individual effort and good luck.

If the ball is in a bunker or in a water obstacle, before starting the shock motion on the ball, do not touch the ground with any stick in the obstacle, or the water in the water barrier and do not move the free interference.

You must put a full blow on the ball with a stick. You can not push, pick up or rake the ball.

If you play the wrong ball, in a match game, you lose the hole; in the game on the account - you are subject to a penalty of two hits, after which you must correct the mistake by playing the correct ball.

Unlike many sports, golf, for the most part, does not control the judge. Therefore, it depends on the integrity of the individual when he looks at his comrades and obeys the rules. Playing in green areas and lawns that are strategically designed to practice this sport, golf attracts more and more fans who appreciate nature.

The scenery, as a rule, consists of lakes, forests and trees, which are part of the architecture of the golf courses and become natural barriers for those who intend to engage in this sport. The goal of golf, at first glance, is simple: put a small ball in one of the holes available on the field with a minimum blow.

On the green

You have the right to mark, lift and clean the ball on the green. Always return the ball exactly to its original place.

On the Putta line, you are entitled to correct only footprints from balls or old holes, but not any other damage, including those from shoe spikes.

When making a kick from the green, make sure that the checkbox is removed from the hole or maintained. A flag may be removed or serviced when the ball is outside of the green.

But such simplicity is limited to those who have ever engaged in this sport. The complexity of this game is so great that it can confuse even the most experienced competitors. The use of the right force at each stroke, positioning in the club, aerodynamic knowledge and the rules of physics are necessary for good field work.

Of course, all this must be added to great patience, concentration, luck and good gingad, because body movement, also known as swing, is fundamental to achieving good results. No one knows exactly where this sport came from, but the most likely fact is that he was born in Scotland.

Shifting the ball in peace

Whenever the ball is in play, if you accidentally moved the ball, picked it up when it was not allowed, or the ball moved after you were ready to strike, add a free kick and return the ball to its original place. However, there are exceptions - read in rule 18-2a.

If the resting ball is moved by someone else or another ball, return it to its original place with no penalty for you.

This sport posed a threat to the country, since the Scottish warriors spent hours on the golf course, obstructing military training and, consequently, the security of the kingdom. From that time to the present, much has changed. Today, this sport is practiced in almost all countries, especially in the United States, where the best golfers are currently concentrated, as well as in Scotland itself, the stages of the great world tournaments.

Learn how to play golf like a pro

The game may seem easy, but the fact is that golf is one of the most difficult sports to practice. The complexity of the game, the immensity of each field and the complexity of each shot defy the mind and spirit of any player. Although there is pleasure and achievement in winning over others, most golfers will say that the biggest challenge is overcoming their own limits and improving their own skills. Golf offers many other advantages to the golfer.

Deflecting or stopping a moving ball

If the ball you played is rejected or stopped by you, your partner, your caddy or equipment, add a free-kick and play the ball from the position in which it finds itself.

If the ball you played was deflected or stopped by touching another ball that was at rest - you should play without penalty from the position in which the ball was, except for playing at the expense of where you are fined in two hits, if both balls were before on the green.

First, golf is a good way to keep fit. Secondly, golf helps keep your mind alert. Golf is a sport that challenges the ability to reason, analyze and create strategies. To be a good player, you must be a good student.

You need to learn the game itself, get a high level of knowledge of the rules, etiquette and best practices. You also need to deeply explore every area in which you will play. Each field is different and offers its own problems. It is necessary to know the distance from each fairway, the obstacles that it will face, and the dangers that it must avoid. The type and height of green grass is also important.

Raising, throwing and setting the ball

Before lifting the ball, which must be returned to its original place (for example, when the ball rises on the green for cleaning), its location must be marked.

If the ball is lifted for a throw-in or installation in another place (for example, for throwing within two stick lengths according to the rule of an unplayable ball, for example), you are not required to mark the location of the ball, but it is recommended to do so.

Another advantage of golf is the contact with nature, which offers the player. Most clubs and gyms invest heavily in the creation and maintenance of fields that are not only pleasant to play, but also to see. Finally, golf creates opportunities for communication. Regular contact with people you like contributes to your mental and spiritual well-being in the same way that good nutrition and exercise help maintain the health of your body.

With all these advantages, it is not surprising that the growing popularity of golf. It does not matter if you are a beginner or have a lot of experience in sports, and the tips of this site you can learn to play golf much better. All people in all aspects of life have a model that so marks their presence and evokes such a strong impression that it becomes the only goal, an ideal example.

When throwing, stand straight, hold the ball with your outstretched hand at shoulder height, then release it.

A ball thrown in should be re-injected if it rolled back to a position where it was influenced by those circumstances that were removed (for example, a fixed obstacle), and if it stopped at a distance of more than two club lengths from the point where it was thrown in or closer to the hole than its original location, the closest impact removal point, or the last crossing point of the water barrier.

In total, rule 20-2c provides for nine cases in which an injected ball must be reintroduced. If the re-thrown ball has rolled back to any of these positions, set it to the point of the first touch of the field when re-throwing. (Rule 20-2s)

Ball that helps or interferes with the game

You have the right to raise your ball, or ask to pick up any other ball, if you think that the ball can help any other player.

You do not have to agree to leave your ball in a position that helps another player play.

You have the right to ask to raise any ball if it interferes with your game.

A ball that was raised to help or interfere with the game cannot be cleared, except when raised on the green.

Interference free

You have the right to move free interference (i.e., loose natural objects, such as stones, fallen leaves or branches), except for the cases when both the obstacle and the ball are in the same obstacle. If you remove free interference and at the same time move the ball, the ball must be installed in its original place (except when the ball is on the green) and you are subject to a penalty of one hit.

Moving obstacles

Moving obstacles (i.e., artificial moving objects such as rakes, cans, etc.) located anywhere can be moved without penalty. If at the same time the ball moved, it should be installed in its original place without penalty.

If the ball lies on a moving obstacle, the ball can be lifted, the obstacle removed, and the ball can be thrown without penalty at a point directly below the place where the ball lay on the obstacle, except for the green where the ball should be placed on this point.

Fixed obstacles and abnormal condition of the field

Fixed obstacles are artificial fixed objects, such as buildings or roads with artificial turf (however, specify how local rules determine paths and paths on the field).

The abnormal condition of the field site is random water, the repaired area, as well as a hole, a dent in the soil or a path made in the field by a burrowed animal, a reptile or a bird.

Except for the case when the ball is in a water obstacle, you have the right to eliminate the effect of a fixed obstacle or an abnormal condition of a field pitch without a penalty if it physically interferes with the position of the ball, your stand or the swing. You have the right to pick up the ball and throw it within the same length of the club from "the nearest point

elimination of influence ", but no closer to the hole than this point. If the ball is on the green, it is placed at the nearest influence elimination point.

You have no right to eliminate the influence of interference in the line of the game, except in the case when both your ball and the obstacle are on the green. An additional option is available if your ball is in a bunker. You have the right to eliminate the effect of the obstacle by throwing the ball behind the bunker with a penalty of one hit.

Water barriers

If your ball is in a water hazard (yellow pegs and / or lines), you are entitled to play the ball from the position in which it finds itself, or with a one-hit penalty:

Play again from the place where the ball was played in the barrier,

Throw the ball at any distance behind the water barrier, on the continuation of a straight line from the hole through the point where the ball last crossed the water barrier.

If your ball is in a side water barrier (red pegs and / or lines), in addition to the possibilities for a ball in a water barrier (see above), you are entitled to one penalty

throw the ball within two stick lengths from:

The point where the ball last crossed the barrier, or

Points on the opposite side of the barrier, equidistant

from the hole, but no closer to the hole than these points are.

The ball is lost or out of bounds; Time ball

Specify how the field limits are determined by local rules on the score card.

If the ball is lost outside a water hazard or turned out to be out of bounds, you must play the ball with a one-hit penalty from the point from which the last hit was played. You are given 5 minutes to search for the ball, after which, if the ball is not found, or its membership is not determined, it is considered lost.

If, after a strike, you assume that the ball may be lost outside a water hazard or may be out of the field, you should play a “temporary ball”. You must declare that this is a temporary ball and play them before you start the movement to search for the original ball.

If it turns out that the original ball is lost (outside the water hazard) or is out of the field, you must continue playing the temporary ball with a penalty of one hit.

If the original ball is found within the field, you must continue playing this ball, and the game with the temporary ball must be stopped.

Unplayable ball

If your ball is in a water hazard, then the unplayable ball rule does not apply, and if you want to eliminate the influence of the barrier, you must act according to the water barrier rule.

In any other part of the field, if you think your ball is unplayable, you are entitled to a one-hit penalty:

Throw the ball at the point where the last shot was played, or

Throw the ball at any distance behind the point where the ball is located, on the continuation of a straight line from the hole through this point, or

Throw the ball within two clubs from the place where the ball lies, but not closer to the hole.

If your ball is not played in the bunker, you have the right to act as described above, but when throwing the ball on the line backwards or within two stick lengths, you must throw it in the bunker.

Etiquette

If you haven’t done so yet, you should read the Etiquette section - not the Rules, but a practical guide on how to behave on the field and how to act - safely, timely, with respect to other players, and how to maintain good field condition.

In the book of the rules of the game of golf only 34 articles.

The first, formal rules appeared in 1774.

Since 1980, most of the world recognized the Royal Club of St. Andrew as the highest authority.

The Golf Rules Committee constantly monitors and develops the rules, adapting them to modern conditions.

Below are the main provisions of the rules prepared and translated from the English Golf Association of Russia in conjunction with the Moscow City Golf Club and approved by the Royal Old Golf Club St. Andrew.

The meaning of golf

Golf is a game in which the ball hits a club from a specially prepared area, known as the tee, in the direction of another specially prepared area with a hole on it, known as the putting green.

The winner is the one who passes the hole with the minimum number of hits.

The "golf circle" consists of playing 9 or 18 such holes.

There are two main types of games, one of which is determined by the ratio of won or lost holes ("match game"), and the other - the total number of strokes made to complete the circle ("game on account of strokes").

A golfer must know 3 main principles:
"Play the field as it is.
Play the ball as he lay down.
And if neither is possible, do justice. "

Rules of the game

Main provisions

Before starting a circle, do the following:
  a) read the Local Rules on the score card;
  b) put an identification tag on the ball. Many golfers play the same brand of balls, and if you could not identify your ball, it is considered lost;
  c) count your clubs. Allowed to have a maximum of 14 clubs.
During the game, do not ask for advice from anyone except your partner or caddy. Do not give advice to anyone except your partner.
During the game on the hole training shots are prohibited.

Kick with "tee"

Place the ball on the tees between the tee markers, not in front of them.
It is allowed to place the ball on the "ti" behind the "ti" markers, within the length of 2 clubs from the front line.
Blow with "ti" outside this zone  in a match game, there is no penalty, however, your opponent may ask to repeat the blow; In the game on the account you are subject to a penalty of 2 hits, after which you must continue the game from the correct zone.

Ball game

Play the ball from the position in which it appeared. Do not improve your position, conditions for the alleged "swing" (note: the so-called swing technique for hitting the ball in golf) or the line of the game, without moving the ball and not bending down or cracking anything from the fixed objects or plants, except as a result of directly adopting a gaming rack or in the process of "swing". Do not press anything or artificially improve the conditions for making a gaming rack.
If the ball is in a bunker or in a water barrier, before striking the ball, do not touch the surface of the bunker or the surface of the ground or the water in the water barrier.
The ball should be dealt a full blow, but not a push or throw.
Playing another's ball  (except for the position in the hindrance) in a match game means losing a hole, and in a game on account of strikes (“build-play”) is punished with a two-stroke penalty, after which you should play the correct ball.

On the "putting green"

It is allowed to correct only footprints from balls or old holes located on the “putta” line, but no other damages, including those from shoe spikes.
It is permitted to mark, lift and clean the ball on the putting green. The ball must always return exactly to its original place.
It is forbidden to test the surface of the putting green by touch or by rolling a ball over it.
If the ball played with the putting green hits the flag pole,  then in the match game this means losing the hole, and in the game on account of the blows - a penalty of 2 hits.

The ball is at rest, shifted

If the ball, which is at rest, is shifted by you, your partner or “caddy” in a manner not provided for by the Rules, or if it moved after your ready to strike, add 1 penalty kick and put the ball in its place.
If the ball is at rest, moved by someone else or another ball, put it in its original place without penalty.

The ball in motion changes direction or is stopped

The ball you hit changed direction or stopped due to your fault,  the fault of your partner or “caddy” - in a match game you lose a hole, and in a game about punches you get a penalty of 2 hits, and the ball is played from the position in which it finds itself.
The ball you hit changed direction or stopped due to the fault of a stranger. - without penalty, continue playing the ball from the position in which it finds itself, with the exception of: a) match play, when you have the right to choose to repeat the strike, if the opponent or his caddy are to blame for changing the direction of the ball; b) playing at the expense of strikes, if the ball has changed its direction from the "putting green". Then you must repeat it.
The ball you struck changed direction or stopped when colliding with another ball that was at rest,  - the game continues without a penalty from the place where he ended up, except for the game at the expense of punches, in which a penalty of 2 blows is required for this if your ball and the other ball were on the putting green until the moment of making a strike.

Raising, throwing and setting the ball

If the ball rises in order to install in the same place, then its position must be marked. If the ball is thrown or placed in any other position (for example, when leaving the repaired area, etc.), marking the previous location of the ball is recommended.
When throwing, stand up straight, hold the ball at shoulder level and release the ball from your outstretched hand. If the ball hits you, your partner or “caddy”, you must repeat the throw-in without penalty.
There are 8 cases in which an injected ball rolls into such a position that the throw-in must be repeated (see Rule 20-2c).

The position of the ball interferes with the game or improves it.

It is allowed to raise the ball if its position can improve the game of any of the other players.
At your request, any ball that interferes with your game or improves the game of any of the players can be raised.

Interference free

It is allowed to move free interference, except when both the ball and the obstacle itself are in the barrier. However, if your ball moved as a result of your contact with free interference within the length
1 sticks from your ball (except when the ball is on the putting green), you must restore the position of the ball and assign 1 free kick.

Obstacles

Refer to the Local Rules for fixed obstacles (for example, covered roads or paths, etc.).
Moving obstacles (eg rakes, cans, etc.) can be shifted to any part of the golf course. If the ball has changed position, it must be restored without penalty.
If a fixed obstacle (for example, a fountain with water) interferes with your playing stance or swing, the ball can be thrown without penalty within the length of 1 club from the nearest point free from the influence of the obstacle, but not closer to the hole. The impact of an obstacle on the line of your strike is not a reason to alleviate the situation, unless both the ball and the obstacle are on the putting green.

Random water, repaired area, etc.

If the ball is in random water, in the repaired area or in a hole or in garbage made by a burrowing animal (for example, a rabbit), it is allowed to throw in within the length of 1 club from the nearest free point, but not closer to the hole.

Water barriers

Specify, according to the Local Rules on your scorecard, whether the sea, lake, river, etc. is. "water obstacle" or "side water obstacle."
Ball in a water barrier  - play from the position in which it is located, or with a penalty of 1 strike (a) throw at any distance behind the water disturbance, strictly along the line between the hole, the place where the ball crossed the water disturbance boundary, and the place of throwing, or (b ) play again from the place where the ball was hammered into a barrier.
Ball in the side water barrier  - in addition to the above options for playing a ball from a water hazard, with a penalty of 1 hit, it is allowed to throw within 2 lengths of the clubs from (a) the point where the ball crossed the barrier, or (b) the points on the opposite side of the obstacle equidistant from the hole .

Ball lost or out of bounds

Specify the designation of the limits of the golf course according to the Local Rules on the score card.
If the ball is lost outside the water hazard or out of bounds, it is necessary to play a new ball with a penalty of 1 hit from the place where the last hit was played (i.e. the loss of both hit and distance). The search for the ball is given 5 minutes, after which, if it is not found or not identified, the ball is considered lost.
If, after a strike, it is assumed that the ball may be lost outside the water hazard or out of the field, a “temporary ball” may be played.
You must declare that this is a temporary ball and play it before you begin to search for the original ball. If the original ball is lost or out of bounds, the game should continue with a temporary ball with a penalty of 1 hit. If the original ball is not lost or not outside the field, you should continue to play this hole with the same ball, the temporary ball should be

Unplayable ball

If it seems that the ball is unplayable outside the water hazard (and only you are entitled to decide), then it is allowed, with a penalty of 1 hit (a), a throw-in within the length of 2 clubs from where the ball lies, but not closer to the hole, (b ) make a throw-in at any distance behind the point where the ball is located, keeping a straight line between the hole, the point where the ball lies and the place of throw-in, or (c) replaying the strike. If the ball is in a bunker, then you can continue the game by options (a), (b) or (c). However, if option (a) or (b) is chosen, a throw-in should be made in the bunker.

Conclusion

A good score can be spoiled, and a match can be lost due to a fine imposed as a result of non-compliance or distortion of the Rules.

A confident knowledge of the above summary should help the golfer deal with the “Rules Problem”.

However, in case of any doubts, refer to the complete Golf Rules, approved by the Royal Royal Golf Club, St. Andrew and the United States Golf Association.
